How to Remove the Rear Wheel Motor on an Arwibon Q30Pro

This guide covers rear wheel motor removal on the arwibon q30 pro. The procedure applies when replacing a failed motor, checking the Hall sensor or motor wiring, replacing the rear tire or brake disc, or servicing the rear swingarm and suspension.

Tools Needed

• Large open-end or adjustable wrench for the rear axle nuts
• Allen wrench set
• Pointed pick or small flat screwdriver
• Small stool or maintenance stand to lift the rear wheel
• Protective gloves

Step 1: Disconnect the Main Battery Power

Open the deck cover to access the controller compartment.

Before touching the Hall connector or motor phase connections, disconnect the yellow XT60 battery connector.

1. Locate the yellow XT60 connector between the battery and controller.
2. Hold the connector housings rather than pulling on the wires.
3. Separate the XT60 completely.
4. Confirm that the scooter is powered down before continuing.

Do not start removing the motor wiring while the main battery connection is still connected.

Step 2: Disconnect the Hall Sensor Connector

Locate the white 6-pin Hall sensor connector for the rear motor.

1. Press or release the connector locking tab.
2. Pull the connector apart by its housings.
3. Keep the connector away from the work area so it cannot reconnect accidentally.

Do not pull directly on the individual wires.

Step 3: Disconnect the Motor Phase Connection

The three motor phase wires are protected by an outer insulating sleeve and tape.

1. Locate the black protective sleeve around the phase-wire connection.
2. Carefully move the electrical tape and sleeve back along the cable.
3. Expose the yellow MT60 three-phase connector.
4. Hold both connector housings and separate the MT60 connection.
5. Make sure the motor phase wiring is completely separated from the controller.

Keep the exposed terminals away from metal tools after the connection has been separated.

Step 4: Remove the Left Rear Swingarm Cover

The rear swingarm has a decorative light-emitting plate covering the mounting screws.

1. Move to the left side of the rear wheel.
2. Use a pointed pick to carefully lift the edge of the black decorative plate.
3. Peel the plate back without damaging it.
4. Remove the two Allen screws underneath.
5. Keep the screws together.
6. Carefully remove the black plastic swingarm cover.

Pay attention to any small light wiring behind the cover. Do not pull the cover away aggressively.

Step 5: Remove the Right Rear Swingarm Cover

Repeat the same process on the brake-disc side.

1. Move to the right side of the rear wheel.
2. Carefully lift the edge of the decorative plate.
3. Remove the two hidden Allen screws.
4. Take off the right-side plastic swingarm cover.

With both covers removed, the metal swingarm arms and rear axle hardware should be accessible.

Step 6: Remove the Rear Brake Caliper Mounting Hardware

Move to the rear brake-disc side.

1. Locate the Allen screw securing the rear brake caliper mounting bracket.
2. Remove the screw and its washer.
3. Move the brake assembly clear of the wheel.

Keep the brake assembly supported. Avoid pulling or sharply bending the brake cable or housing while working around the wheel.

Step 7: Remove the Right-Side Axle Nut and Torque Washer

Use the appropriate large open-end or adjustable wrench.

1. Hold the right-side rear axle nut.
2. Turn it counterclockwise to loosen it.
3. Remove the outer axle nut.
4. Remove the washer/torque washer behind it.
5. Set the hardware aside in the order it was removed.

The torque washer has a locating tab that engages the swingarm slot. Record its orientation before removing it.

Step 8: Remove the Left-Side Axle Hardware

Move to the opposite side of the rear wheel.

1. Remove the left-side swingarm mounting screw and washer.
2. Place them somewhere safe.
3. Use the large wrench to loosen the left-side axle nut.
4. Remove the axle nut.
5. Remove the locating torque washer.

Keep the left and right axle hardware separated if their shapes or orientations differ.

Step 9: Remove the Rear Wheel Motor

The rear wheel motor is heavy, so support it before removing the axle.

1. Hold the rear tire and motor housing securely with both hands.
2. Make sure the wheel is fully supported.
3. Slide the motor wheel backward and downward along the U-shaped axle slots in the swingarm.
4. Keep the wheel controlled as it comes free.
5. At the same time, guide the motor phase and Hall wiring through the opening in the rear of the frame.
6. Do not drag the wiring against the frame or axle.
7. Place the complete rear wheel motor assembly on a stable surface.

The motor should now be completely separated from the Q30Pro.

Important: Keep the Torque Washers

The torque washers are important during reassembly. Their locating tabs must engage correctly with the swingarm slots.

Do not simply reinstall them in an arbitrary direction. Take a photo or mark their orientation before removal. Incorrect positioning can allow the motor axle to rotate under load and place excessive stress on the motor cable.

Before Installing a Replacement Motor

Check the following parts before reassembly:

• Motor axle and threads
• Torque washers and locating tabs
• Swingarm axle slots
• Motor cable near the axle
• Hall connector
• MT60 phase connector
• Brake disc
• Rear brake caliper and mounting hardware

When reinstalling the motor, keep the main XT60 battery connection disconnected until the motor wiring and other electrical connections have been completed and checked.
