How to Install the Rear Wheel Motor on an Arwibon Q30Pro
This guide covers rear wheel motor installation on the arwibon q30 pro after replacing the motor, rear tire, or brake disc. It also covers the axle hardware, torque washers, rear brake caliper, swingarm covers, Hall connector, and MT60 phase connection.
Tools Needed
- Large open-end or adjustable wrench for the rear axle nuts
- Allen wrench set
- Small stool or maintenance stand
- Protective gloves
- Fixative glue or double-sided adhesive, if needed for the decorative light plates
Step 1: Prepare the Rear Wheel Motor and Axle Hardware
Place the rear wheel motor assembly on a stable surface with the tire and brake disc already installed.
Before putting the motor into the swingarm, check the axle hardware and make sure the torque washers are positioned correctly.
- On the brake-disc side, install the inner spacer or locating sleeve.
- Install the torque washer.
- Thread the outer axle nut onto the axle by hand for a few turns.
- Move to the cable-exit side.
- Route the motor cable in its normal direction.
- Install the corresponding spacer, torque washer, and axle nut.
- Leave both axle nuts only hand-tight for now.
Keep the left and right hardware in the same order as it was removed.
Step 2: Insert the Motor into the Rear Swingarm
- Lift the rear wheel motor with both hands.
- Guide the motor cable through the opening in the rear swingarm.
- Align both ends of the motor axle with the U-shaped slots in the swingarm.
- Lower the axle into the slots and push the motor fully into position.
- Check both sides before tightening anything.
Check the Torque Washers
The locating tabs on the torque washers must sit correctly inside the corresponding swingarm slots.
This is one of the most important parts of the installation. The washers prevent the motor axle from rotating in the swingarm under motor torque.
Do not tighten the axle nuts while a torque washer is sitting outside the slot or at the wrong angle.
Step 3: Tighten Both Rear Axle Nuts
Once the axle and torque washers are correctly seated:
- Hand-tighten the brake-disc-side axle nut.
- Use the large wrench to tighten it securely.
- Move to the cable side.
- Hand-tighten the second axle nut.
- Tighten it securely with the wrench.
- Check that the axle is fully seated and the motor cannot move sideways.
Do not ride the scooter with loose axle hardware.
The supplied procedure does not specify a torque value, so do not substitute an arbitrary torque specification.
Step 4: Reinstall the Rear Brake Caliper
- Take the rear mechanical disc brake caliper.
- Position it over the brake disc.
- Align the caliper mounting holes with the threaded holes on the rear swingarm.
- Insert both mounting bolts and washers.
- Start both bolts by hand.
- Use the Allen wrench to tighten them alternately.
- Check that the caliper is positioned correctly around the disc.
- Tighten both bolts securely.
After installation, the brake disc should sit correctly between the brake pads without heavy rubbing.
Step 5: Reinstall the Left Swingarm Cover
Move to the left side of the rear swingarm.
- Position the black plastic cover over the metal swingarm.
- Align the cover with its mounting points.
- Position the LED light plate in its opening.
- Install the two Allen mounting bolts.
- Tighten the bolts securely.
- Check that the light strip and its wiring are seated in their channel.
- If the original decorative adhesive no longer holds, use a suitable small amount of fixative glue.
- Reinstall the black decorative strip or plate.
- Press it evenly into the outer groove.
Do not trap or pinch the light wiring underneath the cover.
Step 6: Reinstall the Right Swingarm Cover
- Position the right-side black plastic cover on the brake-disc side.
- Align the mounting holes.
- Insert the countersunk Allen bolts.
- Tighten the bolts securely.
- Press the LED light strip back into its groove.
- Reinstall the decorative plate.
- Press the plate firmly into position.
Check that neither cover contacts the rotating wheel or brake disc.
Step 7: Route the Motor Cable into the Deck
With the mechanical installation complete, route the motor wiring back into the controller compartment.
- Guide the motor cable through the rear frame opening.
- Pull enough cable into the deck without sharply bending it.
- Keep the cable away from the tire, axle, brake disc, and sharp frame edges.
- Locate the yellow MT60 phase connector.
- Locate the white 6-pin Hall connector.
Keep the main battery XT60 disconnected while making these electrical connections.
Step 8: Connect the Yellow MT60 Phase Connector
The yellow MT60 connector carries the motor phase connection.
- Inspect both connector halves.
- Check the internal triangular/keyed alignment features.
- Align the connectors correctly.
- Push the two halves together by their housings.
- Press them fully together.
- Check that the connection is seated and cannot easily separate.
Do not force the connector if the keyed sections are not aligned.
Step 9: Connect the White 6-Pin Hall Connector
- Locate the white 6-pin Hall connector.
- Align the connector housing and locking tab.
- Push the two halves together.
- Make sure the locking mechanism is fully engaged.
- Check that the wires are not being pulled or sharply bent at the connector.
Do not pull on the individual wires to test the connection.
Step 10: Reconnect the Main Battery
Only reconnect the yellow XT60 after the motor connections have been completed and checked.
- Inspect the MT60 connection.
- Inspect the Hall connector.
- Check the motor cable routing.
- Confirm that no tool or loose metal hardware is inside the controller compartment.
- Connect the yellow XT60 battery connector.
- Make sure it is fully seated.
This should be the final electrical connection before powering on the scooter.
Step 11: Test the Rear Motor
Before putting the scooter back into normal service, keep the driven rear wheel off the ground.
- Make sure the scooter is securely supported.
- Turn the scooter on.
- Slowly operate the throttle.
- Watch the rear wheel for smooth rotation.
- Check that there is no unusual motor noise or severe vibration.
- Check the brake disc for abnormal rubbing.
- Operate the rear brake and confirm that the motor brake cutoff works if equipped.
- Stop the motor and inspect the wiring again.
Do not perform the first motor test with the rear wheel on the ground.
Final Check
Before closing the deck, check:
- Rear axle fully seated in both swingarm slots
- Both torque washers correctly engaged
- Both axle nuts tightened securely
- Brake caliper firmly mounted
- Brake disc rotates without heavy rubbing
- MT60 connector fully seated
- White 6-pin Hall connector locked
- Motor cable protected from the tire, disc, and sharp edges
- Swingarm covers firmly mounted
- LED light strips and decorative plates properly seated
- Rear wheel spins smoothly during the unloaded test
Once everything passes inspection, organize the wiring and reinstall the deck cover.
