How to Replace the Controller on an Arwibon Q30Pro Electric Scooter

The controller is the main power-control unit of the arwibon q30 pro Electric Scooter. It controls the power supplied to the motor and works with the motor Hall sensor, throttle, display, and other control circuits.

This guide covers the complete Arwibon Q30Pro controller replacement process, from opening the deck and removing the old controller to connecting the new controller and testing the scooter.

Important: The Q30 pro controller shown in this procedure is ZF-063 (SF), rated at 52V, with an undervoltage value of 42±1V and a current limit of 35±1A. Check your original controller and connector layout before purchasing or installing a replacement.

Tools and Parts Needed

  • New Arwibon Q30Pro 52V controller
  • Allen wrench
  • Protective gloves

Part 1: Remove the Old controller

Step 1: Open the Deck

Remove the deck cover to access the battery and controller compartment.

The controller is located inside the lower compartment with the battery and wiring. Open the deck carefully and make sure you have enough working space around the controller.

If the deck cover has connected lighting wires, do not pull the cover away until those connectors have been disconnected.

Step 2: Disconnect the Main Battery Power

Before disconnecting the controller wiring, turn the scooter off and disconnect the yellow XT60 battery connector.

Locate the yellow XT60 connector between the battery and controller. Hold the connector housings and pull them apart.

Do not pull on the wires.

This should be the first electrical connection disconnected for controller service. Although the supplied video labels the Hall connector as No. 1 and the XT60 as No. 2, the main battery connection should be disconnected before working on the remaining controller connectors.

Step 3: Disconnect the White 6-Pin Hall Sensor Connector

Locate the white 6-pin connector between the controller and motor wiring.

Press the locking tab and separate the connector.

This connector carries the motor Hall sensor signals. Pull the connector housing rather than the wires.

Step 4: Disconnect the Yellow MT60 Motor Connector

Locate the yellow 3-pin MT60 connector used for the motor phase connection.

Hold both connector housings and pull them apart.

Do not twist the connector excessively or pull on the individual phase wires.

Step 5: Disconnect the Two Black Control Connectors

There are two black control connectors connected to the controller.

First, locate the black multi-pin main control connector. Press its locking tab and pull the connector apart.

Next, disconnect the adjacent black 3-pin control connector in the same way.

Before removing these connectors, it is useful to take a clear photo of the original wiring arrangement. This gives you a reference when installing the replacement controller.

Step 6: Remove the Old Controller

After confirming that the battery power, motor phase, Hall sensor, and control connectors are disconnected, remove the old controller from the bottom compartment.

Keep the old controller until the replacement has been checked and tested. Compare the two controllers before connecting the new one.

Part 2: Check the Replacement Q30Pro Controller

Before installation, check the label on the replacement controller.

The controller shown in the procedure is:

  • Controller type: Brushless DC Motor Controller
  • Model: ZF-063 (SF)
  • Voltage: 52V
  • Undervoltage: 42±1V
  • Current limit: 35±1A

Do not install a controller simply because the housing looks similar. Compare the connectors, pin counts, connector positions, and wire arrangement with the original Q30Pro controller.

If the connector arrangement does not match, stop before connecting the battery.

Part 3: Install the New Controller

Step 1: Connect the Yellow MT60 Motor Connector

Start with the motor phase connection.

Find the yellow 3-pin MT60 connector on the new controller and the matching motor-side connector.

Align the triangular/keyed locating section inside the connector.

Push the two halves together until they are fully seated.

Do not force the connector if the locating section is not aligned correctly.

Step 2: Connect the White 6-Pin Hall Sensor Connector

Next, connect the motor Hall sensor.

Find the white 6-pin Hall connector from the new controller and the matching connector from the motor.

Align the locking guide and push the connector straight in until it is fully seated.

Check that the locking mechanism is engaged and that the connector cannot easily separate.

Step 3: Connect the Black Multi-Pin Main Control Connector

Locate the black multi-pin connector used for the main handlebar/display wiring.

Align the connector guides and push it fully into place.

Make sure the connector is straight before applying pressure. The connector should seat completely without excessive force.

Step 4: Connect the Black 3-Pin Control Connector

Connect the remaining black 3-pin control connector.

Align the connector and locking section, then push it together until fully seated.

Check both black connectors again after installation. Neither should be loose or partially inserted.

Step 5: Connect the Yellow XT60 Battery Connector Last

Before connecting the battery, stop and inspect all previous connections.

Check that:

  • The yellow MT60 motor connector is fully seated.
  • The white 6-pin Hall connector is fully seated.
  • The black multi-pin connector is locked.
  • The black 3-pin connector is locked.
  • No wires are trapped underneath the controller.
  • No connector is being pulled by a tight or poorly routed cable.

Only after these checks should you connect the yellow XT60 battery connector.

Align the connector's keyed sections and push the two halves together until fully connected.

The XT60 should be the final electrical connection.

Part 4: Position the Controller and Organize the Wiring

Once the new controller is connected, place it back into its mounting position inside the bottom compartment.

Arrange the wiring so that the cables are not sharply bent or pulled.

Keep the motor phase wires, Hall wiring, control connectors, and battery cable clear of the deck mounting points.

Do not place wires directly underneath areas where the deck cover or its fasteners could press against them.

If the deck was removed completely, reconnect any deck-mounted accessories before closing it.

Part 5: Power-On Test

Step 1: Turn the Q30Pro On

Move to the handlebar and insert the mechanical key.

Turn the key clockwise to power on the scooter.

The voltage display should illuminate. In the supplied test procedure, the voltage display shows approximately 58.5V–58.8V when the battery is fully charged.

The main color display should also power up and complete its startup check, showing the READY status.

Step 2: Test the Motor With the Rear Wheel Raised

Before riding the scooter, make sure the rear wheel is safely raised off the ground.

Gently rotate the throttle and observe the motor.

The motor should start smoothly without unusual noise or vibration.

Do not immediately apply full throttle during the first test. Start with a small throttle input and confirm that the controller and motor respond normally.

Step 3: Check the Riding Modes

The supplied procedure tests the three riding modes.

With the rear wheel still safely raised, switch between 1, 2, and 3 and observe the display and motor response.

The video shows approximately:

  • Mode 1: 34 MPH
  • Mode 2: 51 MPH
  • Mode 3: 55 MPH

These are the unloaded values shown during the video test and should not be treated as a guaranteed riding speed.

Release the throttle and confirm that the motor slows down normally.

Step 4: Check the Brake Cutoff

Apply the brake control during the controlled wheel-off-ground test.

Confirm that motor power is cut when the brake is activated.

If the motor behaves unexpectedly, turn the scooter off and disconnect the battery before checking the controller wiring again.

Important Safety Points

Disconnect the yellow XT60 before working on the controller. Do not disconnect or reconnect the motor and control wiring while the controller is still connected to the main battery supply.

Connect the XT60 last when installing the replacement controller. Complete the motor, Hall sensor, and control connections first.

Do not force any connector. If a connector does not fit, check its orientation and confirm that it belongs to the replacement controller.

Check the controller version before installation. The Q30Pro controller shown here is ZF-063 (SF), 52V, 42±1V undervoltage, and 35±1A current limit. Different controller versions should not be assumed to have the same wiring.

Test before riding. After installation, perform the first motor test with the rear wheel safely raised. Check throttle response, motor operation, display status, and brake cutoff before taking the scooter onto the road.
