How to Activate the Battery Protection Board and Check Battery Voltage on an Arwibon Q30Pro
If an Arwibon Q30 proo shows no response when you turn the key, and both the voltage display and main display stay off, the battery BMS may have entered protection mode. This can happen after long-term storage, over-discharge, or a short-circuit event.
This guide explains how to disconnect the controller, check the battery output voltage, use the original 58.8V charger to attempt BMS activation, and then reconnect the system for testing.
Tools and Equipment
- Digital multimeter
- Original 58.8V charger for the 52V battery system
- Allen wrench for removing the deck cover
- Protective gloves
Step 1: Open the Deck and Disconnect the Controller
Remove the deck cover to access the battery and controller wiring.
Before working on the electrical connections, locate the yellow XT60 connector between the battery and controller. Pull the XT60 connectors apart completely to disconnect the controller from the battery.
Do not continue with electrical testing while the controller is still connected.
Step 2: Set the Multimeter to DC Voltage
Set the multimeter to measure DC voltage.
- Insert the red probe into the V/Ω port.
- Insert the black probe into the COM port.
- Set the meter to the 200V DC range, or a suitable DC voltage range above the battery's maximum voltage.
The Q30Pro uses a 52V battery system, with approximately 58.8V when fully charged.
Step 3: Measure the Battery Voltage at the XT60 Connector
With the controller disconnected, locate the battery-side yellow XT60 connector.
Carefully place the red and black probes on the two metal terminals of the connector. Keep the probe tips separated so they cannot touch each other.
The supplied procedure shows a battery reading of about 49.7V as an example of a battery with normal output.
A reading around the normal operating range indicates that the battery is providing output voltage. If the XT60 shows 0V, or the voltage is much lower than expected, the BMS may have disconnected the battery output.
Do not treat one fixed voltage as a universal pass/fail value. Battery state of charge and BMS protection conditions affect the reading.
Step 4: Connect the Original Charger
If the battery-side XT60 has no output and the scooter does not power on, the supplied procedure uses the original 58.8V charger to attempt to wake the BMS.
- Connect the charger to AC power.
- Check the charger indicator. Before connection to the scooter, the indicator should show its normal standby state.
- Insert the charger's aviation connector into the charging port on the scooter.
- Lock the connector in place.
After connection, the charger indicator changes to the charging state in the supplied procedure.
Step 5: Allow the BMS to Wake Up
Leave the charger connected for approximately 1–2 minutes, following the supplied Q30 pro procedure.
This is intended as a short BMS wake-up attempt after the battery protection system has cut off its output.
After approximately 1–2 minutes, disconnect the charger from the scooter.
Do not continue charging indefinitely as a substitute for diagnosing a battery that is severely discharged or damaged.
Step 6: Reconnect the Battery to the Controller
After the short activation attempt, reconnect the yellow XT60 connector between the battery and controller.
Before connecting it, make sure:
- The connector is clean and undamaged.
- The positive and negative sides are correctly aligned.
- No exposed conductor is touching the frame or another terminal.
- The connector is fully seated.
Push the XT60 together until the two halves are completely connected.
Step 7: Turn the Q30Pro On
Move to the handlebar area and insert the mechanical key.
Turn the key clockwise to power on the scooter.
Check the key-lock voltage display first. Then check the main color display for its normal startup screen.
If both displays return to normal operation, the BMS has restored battery output and the scooter can proceed to the next functional check.
Step 8: Perform a Basic Functional Test
Before riding, confirm that the scooter responds normally.
With the drive wheel safely lifted off the ground, briefly operate the throttle and check that the motor responds smoothly.
Do not perform a high-speed unloaded test. The purpose of this check is only to confirm that the electrical system, controller and motor respond after the battery has been reconnected.
Once the electrical system passes the initial test, switch the scooter off and check the wiring again before closing the deck.

Important Safety Notes
Disconnect the controller before measuring or attempting BMS activation. This prevents a fault in the scooter's downstream electrical system from immediately loading the battery again.
Be extremely careful when probing the XT60 connector. Never allow the red and black probes to touch each other or bridge the two terminals. A short circuit can produce sparks and damage the connector, battery or meter.
Use the original charger specified for the Q30Pro battery system. Do not substitute a charger with a different voltage.
Do not repeatedly force-charge a battery that will not recover. If the charger remains in standby, the battery voltage remains abnormal, or the scooter still shows no response after the procedure, the battery pack or BMS may require professional inspection.
