How to Remove the Key Lock Assembly on an Arwibon Q30Pro

This guide explains how to remove the key lock assembly with the built-in voltage display from an Arwibon Q30 pro. It is useful when the key switch does not power on the scooter, the key or switch is damaged, the voltage display has failed, or the complete key lock assembly needs to be replaced.

Tools Needed

• Scissors or cable-tie cutters
• Phillips screwdriver
• Allen wrench
• Protective gloves

Step 1: Remove the Spiral Cable Cover

Start at the right side of the handlebar, where the key lock and brake wiring runs down toward the stem.

1. Locate the black spiral cable sleeve around the wiring.
2. Hold the wiring in place.
3. Rotate the spiral sleeve counterclockwise by hand.
4. Continue unwinding it until the required section of wiring is exposed.
5. Set the removed sleeve aside for reinstallation.

Avoid pulling the wiring while removing the sleeve.

Step 2: Cut the Cable Ties

Two black nylon cable ties secure the wiring to the right side of the handlebar.

1. Locate the cable ties securing the key lock and brake wiring.
2. Use scissors or cable-tie cutters to cut them.
3. Keep the cutting edge facing away from the wires.
4. Remove the cut pieces from the handlebar.
5. Free the wiring so it can move with the components during removal.

Take care not to cut the insulation on the key lock or brake wiring.

Step 3: Disconnect the Key Lock Connector

Follow the key lock cable down from the handlebar.

1. Trace the key lock wire toward the main wiring harness.
2. Locate its connector.
3. Hold both connector housings.
4. Pull the connector apart.
5. Keep the Key lock cable free from the rest of the harness.

Do not pull on the wires themselves.

Step 4: Disconnect the Brake Cutoff Connector

The right brake lever also has an electrical cutoff connection that needs to be separated so the brake lever can be moved out of the way.

1. Locate the red waterproof connector from the right brake lever.
2. Hold the connector housings.
3. Pull the two halves apart.
4. Confirm that the brake lever wiring is now free.

Step 5: Loosen the Key Lock Mounting Screw

The key lock is mounted on the right side of the handlebar, inside the brake lever.

1. Locate the key lock mounting clamp.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen its retaining screw.
3. Turn the screw counterclockwise several turns.
4. Do not remove the screw completely unless necessary.
5. Confirm that the key lock can slide on the handlebar.

The key lock cannot be removed until the brake lever and grip outside it have been moved.

Step 6: Remove the Right Handlebar Grip

1. Hold the right handlebar grip with both hands.
2. Twist the grip while pulling it toward the outside of the handlebar.
3. Continue rotating and pulling until the grip comes free.
4. Set the grip aside.

If the grip is tight, work it gradually rather than using a sharp tool against the handlebar or wiring.

Step 7: Loosen and Move the Right Brake Lever

The brake lever is positioned outside the key lock assembly.

1. Locate the Allen bolt on the brake lever clamp.
2. Loosen the clamp bolt with an Allen wrench.
3. Slide the brake lever outward along the handlebar.
4. Move it clear of the key lock.
5. Leave the brake lever supported rather than allowing it to hang heavily from its cable.

There is no need to disconnect the mechanical brake cable completely for this procedure.

Step 8: Remove the Key Lock Assembly

The handlebar is now clear of the components outside the key lock.

1. Hold the key lock assembly.
2. Slide it outward along the handlebar.
3. Guide its cable through the handlebar area as it comes out.
4. Remove the complete key lock assembly with its wiring.
5. Inspect the connector and cable for damage if the replacement is being performed because of a power or display problem.

The key lock assembly should now be completely removed from the Q30Pro.

Reassembly Order

When installing a replacement key lock assembly, remember the component order on the right side of the handlebar:

Key Lock → brake lever → handlebar grip

The key lock goes on first because the brake lever and grip sit outside it.

Before reconnecting the wiring, make sure the key lock is positioned correctly and the cable has enough slack for steering and folding movement.

Final Check

After installing the replacement:

• Key lock is securely clamped to the handlebar
• Brake lever is securely clamped
• Right grip is fully seated
• Key lock connector is fully connected
• Brake cutoff connector is connected
• Wiring is not pinched or stretched
• Spiral cable sleeve is restored
• Handlebar can turn and fold without pulling the wiring
• Key-on function and voltage display work normally
