How to Install the Key Lock and Route the Wiring on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

This tutorial covers the complete installation of the Arwibon Q30 key lock assembly, including routing the long key-lock harness through the handlebar stem, connecting it inside the controller compartment, reinstalling the right brake lever and grip, and restoring the external cable protection.

Tools and Parts Needed

Prepare:

• New Arwibon Q30 key lock assembly with long wiring harness
• Brake inner cable or similar guide wire
• Masking tape or electrical tape
• Black electrical tape
• Spiral cable wrap
• Allen key
• Scissors
• Protective gloves

Part 1: Route the Key Lock Cable Through the Stem

Step 1: Attach the Key Lock Connector to the Guide Wire

Take a brake inner cable or similar steel wire and use it as a routing guide.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows the guide wire and tape at about 00:00.

Place the key-lock connector alongside the end of the guide wire.

The video shows this at about 00:10.

Wrap the connector and guide wire together with tape.

The official video shows the taped connection at about 00:15.

Keep the taped joint narrow and smooth so it can pass through the inside of the stem without catching.

Do not make the taped section unnecessarily thick.

Step 2: Slide the Key Lock Onto the Right Handlebar

Slide the new key lock assembly onto the right side of the handlebar.

The official video shows this at about 00:38.

Do not tighten the key-lock clamp yet.

Leave enough movement for cable routing and final positioning.

Step 3: Feed the Guide Wire Into the Stem

Insert the taped guide wire into the upper cable opening in the stem.

The official video shows this at about 00:44.

Push the guide wire downward through the inside of the stem.

Continue feeding it carefully rather than forcing it against an obstruction.

The video shows the guide wire moving through the stem at about 00:50.

Step 4: Pull the Guide Wire Out From the Lower Opening

Locate the guide wire at the lower stem opening.

The official video shows it coming out at about 00:54.

Pull the guide wire downward.

As the wire moves, it will pull the key-lock connector and harness through the stem.

Continue until the key-lock cable exits the lower end.

The official video shows the harness being pulled through at about 01:00.

Do not pull hard if the connector catches.

Push it back slightly, adjust the angle, and continue.

Step 5: Remove the Routing Tape

Once the connector is fully through the stem, remove the tape holding it to the guide wire.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this at about 01:24.

Check that the connector housing and wires were not damaged during routing.

Step 6: Feed the Key Lock Harness Into the Deck

Route the key-lock connector through the opening near the folding base and into the controller compartment.

The official video shows this at about 01:43.

Guide the connector through by hand.

Do not pull the harness against a sharp metal edge.

Part 2: Connect the Key Lock Wiring

Step 7: Locate the Matching Controller-Side Connectors

Inside the deck, locate the wiring that was originally connected to the key lock.

The official video begins showing these connections at about 01:46.

Match the replacement connectors to the corresponding harness connectors by:

• connector shape;
• pin count;
• wire arrangement;
• locking position.

Do not force two plugs together simply because they look similar.

Step 8: Connect the Main Multi-Wire Plug

Connect the key-lock multi-wire plug to its matching connector.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this at about 01:49.

Push the housings together until they are fully seated.

Do not pull on individual wires to seat the connector.

Step 9: Connect the Remaining Key Lock Plugs

Connect the remaining plugs shown in the supplied procedure.

The video shows additional connections from about 02:02 to 02:08.

The supplied material identifies these as part of the key-lock power and voltage-signal wiring.

Match them by the original harness layout and connector design.

Check that each locking tab is fully engaged.

Step 10: Arrange the Wiring Inside the Deck

Place the connected harness beside the controller.

The official video shows the wires being arranged at about 02:11.

Keep the wiring:

• away from sharp edges;
• away from screw holes;
• away from moving folding parts;
• free from tight bends.

Do not close the battery cover yet.

Part 3: Install the Key Lock, Brake Lever, and Grip

Step 11: Position the Key Lock

Return to the right side of the handlebar.

Rotate the key lock until the voltage display can be read normally from the riding position.

Make sure the housing does not interfere with the brake lever.

Step 12: Tighten the Key Lock Clamp

Use the Allen key to tighten the key-lock clamp bolt.

Tighten it securely.

The key lock should not rotate around the handlebar when the key is operated.

No tightening torque is provided in the supplied procedure.

Step 13: Install the Right Brake Lever

Slide the right brake lever onto the handlebar outside the key lock.

Position the lever at a comfortable riding angle.

Tighten the brake-lever clamp with the Allen key.

Step 14: Install the Right Grip

Push the right rubber grip onto the outer end of the handlebar.

Push it fully into position.

Check that the grip does not prevent the brake lever from moving normally.

Step 15: Test the Key Lock

Insert the key and turn it to the power-on position.

Check whether:

• the key-lock voltage display turns on;
• the scooter powers up normally;
• the key turns freely;
• the housing remains fixed on the handlebar.

If the key-lock display remains off, turn the scooter off again and recheck the connectors before continuing.

Part 4: Reinstall the Spiral Cable Protection

Step 16: Gather the Handlebar Wiring

Bring the right-side electrical wiring and brake cables together.

Arrange them in a natural path down the stem.

Do not pull the wiring tight.

Step 17: Install the Spiral Cable Wrap

Begin wrapping the black spiral protector around the cable bundle.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this at about 02:50.

Continue downward along the stem.

The video shows the wrapping process at about 02:58.

Keep the wrap even, but do not compress the cables so tightly that they cannot move slightly during steering.

Step 18: Secure the Branching Points

Use black electrical tape at the main cable branch points.

The official video shows this at about 03:05.

Tape only where needed to keep the harness organized.

Do not wrap large sections so tightly that cable movement is restricted.

Part 5: Leave Correct Routing for the Brake and Light Cables

Step 19: Position the Front Brake Cable

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows the front brake cable routing area at about 03:11.

Keep the front brake cable in its intended branch position.

Do not trap it inside the electrical harness.

Step 20: Position the Rear Brake Cable

The video shows the rear brake cable routing area at about 03:19.

Arrange it separately enough that the cable can move normally when the handlebar turns.

Step 21: Position the Headlight Cable

The official video shows the headlight cable position at about 03:39.

Keep the headlight wire in its intended routing path.

Do not place it where folding or steering movement can pinch it.

Step 22: Continue the Spiral Wrap to the Folding Base

Continue wrapping the cable bundle down toward the lower stem and folding base.

The official video shows this at about 03:56.

The finished cable bundle is shown at about 04:02.

Keep the lower harness neat and clear of the folding mechanism.

Check Steering Cable Slack

Before finishing, turn the handlebar fully left and fully right.

Watch the key-lock cable, brake cables, and other wiring.

None of the cables should become tight at either steering limit.

If a cable pulls tight, reopen the spiral wrap and give that section more slack.

This check is especially important after routing a new cable through the stem.

Check the Folding Area

Fold and unfold the stem carefully.

Watch the lower wiring where it enters the frame.

Make sure the harness:

• does not pinch;
• does not rub sharply;
• does not become trapped between folding parts;
• has enough movement for normal folding.

Final Check

After installation, confirm that:

• the key-lock harness passes completely through the stem;
• the connector was not damaged during routing;
• all key-lock plugs are fully seated;
• the key-lock housing is secure;
• the right brake lever is correctly positioned;
• the right grip is fully installed;
• the voltage display powers on;
• the scooter powers on normally;
• the spiral cable wrap is restored;
• the brake and headlight cables remain in their intended positions;
• the wiring has enough slack through the full steering range;
• no cable is trapped around the folding base.
