How to Remove the Key Lock on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter
This tutorial covers removal of the key lock assembly on an Arwibon Q30 scooter. The key lock sits on the inner section of the right handlebar, so the wiring needs to be opened first, then the right grip and brake lever must be moved out of the way before the key lock can slide off the bar.
Tools Needed
Prepare:
- Allen key
- Scissors or utility knife
- Protective gloves
Use extra care when opening the wiring tape. Several small control wires are bundled underneath it.
Step 1: Remove the Spiral Cable Sleeve
Start at the handlebar and stem wiring bundle.
Unwind the black spiral cable sleeve by hand.

Continue until the wrapped connector section of the main harness is exposed.
Do not pull the sleeve straight off the wires. Open it gradually along the bundle.
Step 2: Open the Electrical Tape
Locate the black electrical tape wrapped around the handlebar wiring.

Use scissors or a utility knife to carefully open the outer layer.
Keep the cutting edge away from the wires underneath.
Continue peeling the tape away by hand.

Step 3: Locate the Key Lock Connector
Follow the cable coming from the key lock on the right side of the handlebar.
Trace it into the opened main harness.
The official video shows the corresponding connector at about 00:30.
Identify the plug by following the key lock cable rather than unplugging nearby connectors unnecessarily.
Step 4: Disconnect the Key Lock Plug
Hold both sides of the connector by their plastic housings.
Release the locking tab if fitted, then pull the two connector halves apart.

Do not pull directly on the thin wires.
Once disconnected, separate the key lock cable from the rest of the wiring bundle.

Step 5: Remove the Right Handlebar Grip
Move to the right side of the handlebar.
Hold the rubber grip firmly.

Twist the grip while pulling it outward.
The grip comes completely off the handlebar at about 00:48.
Removing the grip creates an open end so the components farther inside the handlebar can slide outward.
Step 6: Loosen the Right Brake Lever Clamp
Locate the clamp bolt on the right brake lever.
Use the Allen key to loosen it.

Loosen the clamp enough for the brake lever assembly to slide along the handlebar.
There is no need to fully remove the clamp bolt.
Step 7: Move the Right Brake Lever Out of the Way
Slide the right brake lever toward the end of the handlebar.
The official video shows it being moved outward at about 01:03.
Move or remove it far enough to clear the key lock assembly.
If the mechanical brake cable remains connected during this procedure, do not pull the lever farther than the cable comfortably allows.
Step 8: Loosen the Key Lock Clamp Bolt
Locate the Allen bolt on the key lock mounting clamp.

Use the Allen key to loosen the bolt.
The clamp only needs to open enough for the key lock assembly to slide along the handlebar.
Step 9: Slide the Key Lock Outward
Hold the key lock body and begin sliding it toward the open end of the right handlebar.

Guide its cable at the same time so it does not catch on the brake lever or other control wiring.
Step 10: Remove the Key Lock Assembly
Continue sliding the key lock off the end of the handlebar.
The official video shows the assembly completely removed at about 01:10.
Pull the disconnected cable free with the key lock.
The key lock assembly is now removed from the Arwibon Q30 scooter.
Step 11: Check the Removed Key Lock
Before installing the same unit or a replacement, inspect:
- the key lock clamp;
- the mounting bolt;
- the key lock cable;
- the electrical connector;
- the connector locking tab;
- the cable insulation near the handlebar.
If a connector terminal appears pushed back inside the housing or the cable insulation is damaged, correct that before reinstallation.
Final Check
After removal, confirm that:
- the key lock connector is disconnected;
- the right grip has been removed;
- the right brake lever has been moved clear of the key lock;
- the key lock clamp bolt is loose;
- the complete key lock and cable have been removed;
- no handlebar wiring was damaged while opening the harness.
Keep the original installation order in mind for reassembly: the key lock sits farther inward on the right handlebar, so it must be positioned before the outer brake lever and grip are returned to their normal locations.
