How to Install and Wire the Rear Motor on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

This tutorial covers installation and wiring of the rear motor on an Arwibon Q30 scooter. The procedure includes fitting the motor wheel into the rear swingarm, installing the axle hardware, reinstalling the rear brake caliper, connecting the yellow, green, and blue phase wires, reconnecting the Hall sensor plug, and connecting the yellow XT60 battery plug last.

Tools and Parts Needed

Prepare:

  • Arwibon Q30 rear motor assembly with tire and brake disc
  • Two anti-rotation washers
  • Two flat washers
  • Two axle nuts
  • Large open-end wrench or adjustable wrench
  • Allen key
  • Small socket or suitable terminal tool
  • Insulating sleeves or heat-shrink protection
  • Protective gloves

Keep the yellow XT60 battery connector disconnected until all motor wiring has been completed.

Part 1: Install the Rear Motor Wheel

Step 1: Check the Axle Hardware

Before installing the motor, check the hardware on both sides of the axle.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows the axle parts at about 00:00.

The supplied procedure identifies:

  • anti-rotation washers with locating tabs;
  • flat washers;
  • axle nuts.

Keep the left- and right-side hardware in the same arrangement shown in the original installation.

Step 2: Feed the Motor Wiring Into the Deck

Take the black motor harness containing the phase wires and Hall connector.

The official video shows the harness being routed at about 00:06.

Feed it through the rear frame opening and into the battery/controller compartment.

Guide the connectors through carefully so they do not catch on the frame.

Do not pull the motor by its wiring.

Step 3: Lift the Rear Motor Into Position

Hold the rear motor wheel with both hands.

Align the motor axle with the open slots in the rear swingarm.

The official Arwibon Q30 scooter video shows the motor being positioned at about 00:29.

Push the axle fully into the swingarm slots.

Step 4: Check the Motor Orientation

The supplied procedure shows:

  • the motor cable exiting on the left side;
  • the brake disc on the right side.

The official video shows this orientation at about 00:35.

Check both sides before tightening the axle hardware.

Step 5: Seat the Anti-Rotation Washers

Position the anti-rotation washers correctly on both sides.

The locating tabs must sit inside the corresponding swingarm slots.

Do not leave the washer tab sitting outside or against the edge of the slot.

These washers keep the motor axle from rotating inside the swingarm when motor torque is applied.

Step 6: Tighten the Right Axle Nut

Install the right-side flat washer and axle nut.

Start the nut by hand.

The official video shows this at about 00:40.

Use the large wrench to tighten the axle nut securely.

Do not disturb the anti-rotation washer while tightening.

Step 7: Tighten the Left Axle Nut

Move to the cable side of the motor.

Install the left-side washer and axle nut.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows the left axle nut being tightened at about 01:14.

Use the large wrench to secure it.

The supplied procedure does not provide a numeric axle torque, so do not invent one.

Step 8: Reinstall the Rear Brake Caliper

Move the rear brake caliper back over the brake disc.

The official video shows this at about 01:40.

Align the caliper mounting holes with the bracket.

Insert the two Allen bolts.

The video shows the bolts being installed at about 01:43.

Tighten them gradually.

Step 9: Check Caliper Alignment

Before finalizing the caliper position, spin the rear wheel by hand.

The official video shows the caliper adjustment at about 01:53 and the wheel check at about 01:56.

The brake disc should pass through the pads without heavy continuous rubbing.

If necessary, reposition the caliper slightly and tighten the mounting bolts again.

Part 2: Connect the Rear Motor Wiring

Step 10: Identify the Three Phase Wires

Inside the deck compartment, locate the three thick motor phase wires.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows them at about 02:01.

The supplied procedure identifies the three colors as:

  • yellow;
  • green;
  • blue.

Locate the corresponding controller-side phase wires.

Step 11: Place the Insulating Sleeves on the Wires

Before joining the phase terminals, slide the insulating sleeves onto the wires.

The official video shows this at about 02:05.

Position them far enough back that they do not interfere while the terminal hardware is being tightened.

Step 12: Connect Yellow to Yellow

Match the yellow motor phase terminal with the yellow controller terminal.

The official video shows the color-matched phase wiring beginning at about 02:14.

Overlap the ring terminals.

Insert the bolt and install the nut.

Use the Allen key and small socket or wrench to tighten the connection securely.

Step 13: Connect Green to Green

Repeat the same process with the green phase wire.

Align the two green terminals, install the hardware, and tighten the joint securely.

Step 14: Connect Blue to Blue

Connect the blue motor phase wire to the blue controller phase wire.

The official video shows the terminal hardware being tightened through about 02:24.

Continue until all three phase connections are secured.

The video shows the three completed phase joints at about 02:44.

Step 15: Cover the Phase Connections

Once all three phase wires are tight, slide the insulating sleeves back over the exposed terminal joints.

The official Arwibon Q30 scooter video shows this at about 02:57.

Make sure the metal ring terminals, bolts, and nuts are fully covered.

Do not leave one phase connection exposed where it could contact another terminal.

Step 16: Connect the Hall Sensor Plug

Locate the white Hall sensor connector from the motor.

The supplied procedure identifies it as a 6-pin connector.

The official video shows the Hall connection at about 03:26.

Align the connector correctly and push the two halves together until fully seated.

Do not force the plug if the locating tabs are not aligned.

Step 17: Reconnect the Other Plugs Shown in the Procedure

Reconnect any nearby plugs that were disconnected or moved during the rear motor installation.

The supplied procedure shows the charging-port and lighting-related connectors being reconnected at about 03:48.

Match each connector to its original position.

Do not swap similar-looking plugs unless their matching position is confirmed.

Step 18: Inspect the Motor Wiring Before Restoring Power

Before connecting the battery, check:

  • yellow is connected to yellow;
  • green is connected to green;
  • blue is connected to blue;
  • all three phase-terminal bolts are secure;
  • all three phase joints are fully insulated;
  • the Hall connector is fully seated;
  • no wire is pinched against the battery or controller;
  • the motor cable is routed away from the rear tire and brake disc.

Correct any problem before restoring power.

Step 19: Connect the XT60 Main Battery Plug Last

Locate the yellow XT60 battery connector.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this stage at about 03:41.

After the motor phase wires, Hall plug, and other wiring are complete, reconnect the XT60 plug.

Align the connector correctly and push it fully together.

This is the final main electrical connection.

Step 20: Arrange the Wiring Inside the Deck

Organize the connectors and wiring around the controller and battery.

The official video shows the final cable arrangement at about 03:59.

Keep the insulated phase joints separated and away from sharp edges.

Make sure no wire or connector is positioned over a deck-cover screw hole.

Step 21: Test the Rear Motor

Before closing the deck, support the scooter so the rear wheel is off the ground.

Turn the Arwibon Q30 on.

Apply a small amount of throttle.

Check that:

  • the rear motor starts normally;
  • the wheel rotates in the expected direction;
  • the motor runs without obvious abnormal noise;
  • the motor cable remains clear of moving parts.

If the motor does not operate normally, switch the scooter off before checking the wiring again.

Step 22: Test the Rear Brake

With the rear wheel still elevated, squeeze the rear brake lever.

Check that the wheel stops and releases normally.

Spin the wheel again after releasing the brake.

There should not be heavy continuous brake drag.

Step 23: Close the Deck Compartment

Turn the scooter off after testing.

Arrange the wiring one last time.

Install the deck cover and tighten the cover screws.

Make sure no cable is trapped under the cover.

Final Check

Before riding the Arwibon Q30 scooter, confirm that:

  • both axle nuts are secure;
  • both anti-rotation washers are correctly engaged in the swingarm;
  • the motor cable exits on the correct side and is not twisted;
  • the rear brake caliper is secure;
  • the brake disc rotates without heavy rubbing;
  • yellow, green, and blue phase wires are correctly connected and insulated;
  • the 6-pin Hall plug is fully seated;
  • the XT60 connector was connected only after the motor wiring was completed;
  • the rear motor operates normally with the wheel off the ground;
  • the rear brake works normally.

Perform the first road test at low speed in a clear area.
