How to Install the Rear Wheel Motor on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 04 Sep 2026 0 Comments

This tutorial covers installation of the rear wheel motor on an arwibon q30 scooter. The job includes seating the motor axle in the rear swingarm, installing the anti-rotation washers and axle nuts, reinstalling the rear brake caliper, routing the motor harness into the deck compartment, reconnecting the phase wires and Hall sensor plug, and testing the rear motor before closing the deck.

Keep the battery disconnected until all motor wiring is finished.

Tools and Parts Needed

Prepare:

  • Open-end wrench, adjustable wrench, or socket wrench
  • Allen key
  • Rear axle anti-rotation washers
  • Outer washers
  • Rear axle nuts
  • Rear brake caliper and mounting bolts
  • Insulating sleeves or electrical insulation used on the original phase-wire connections
  • Stable stand or support block

Support the arwibon q30 electric scooter securely so the rear of the scooter remains off the ground during installation.

Step 1: Position the Rear Motor Wheel in the Swingarm

Lift the rear wheel motor into the rear swingarm.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this beginning at about 00:00.

Align both ends of the motor axle with the open slots in the swingarm.

Make sure the brake disc faces the brake caliper side and the motor cable exits toward the side used for routing the harness into the deck.

Push the axle fully into the swingarm slots.

Step 2: Install the Anti-Rotation Washers

Fit the anti-rotation or tab washers onto both sides of the motor axle.

The official q30 scooter video shows this at about 00:05.

The locating tabs on the washers need to sit inside the matching swingarm slots.

Check each side before installing the outer washers and axle nuts.

Do not leave the locating tab sitting outside the slot.

Step 3: Install the Outer Washers and Axle Nuts

Place the outer washer onto each axle end.

Thread the axle nuts on by hand.

The official arwibon q30 electric scooter video shows this at about 00:23.

Start both nuts correctly before using a wrench.

If a nut does not thread on normally, remove it and check the axle threads instead of forcing it.

Step 4: Tighten Both Rear Axle Nuts

Use the appropriate wrench to tighten the axle nuts on both sides.

The official video shows this at about 00:30.

Check that the motor axle remains fully seated in the swingarm while tightening.

After both sides are secure, hold the rear wheel and check for movement at the axle.

The motor axle should not shift inside the swingarm slots.

Step 5: Position the Rear Brake Caliper

Move the rear brake caliper back over the brake disc.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 00:37.

Guide the disc between the brake pads carefully.

Align the two caliper mounting holes with the bracket on the rear swingarm.

Step 6: Install the Caliper Bolts

Insert both Allen bolts by hand.

The official q30 scooter video shows this at about 00:43.

Once both bolts are started, use the Allen wrench to tighten them gradually.

The video shows the final tightening at about 00:54.

Work between the two bolts instead of fully tightening only one side first.

Step 7: Spin the Rear Wheel

Rotate the rear wheel by hand.

The official arwibon q30 electric scooter video shows this test at about 01:02.

Check that the wheel rotates without obvious binding.

Listen for continuous brake-disc rubbing.

If the disc is rubbing heavily against one brake pad, adjust the caliper position before continuing.

Step 8: Route the Motor Harness Into the Deck

Take the motor cable coming from the axle and feed it through the original frame opening.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 01:04.

Guide the phase wires and Hall sensor plug into the deck compartment.

Do not drag the terminals forcefully against the metal edge of the frame opening.

Keep the harness straight and avoid twisting it around the axle.

Step 9: Match the Three Motor Phase Wires

Inside the deck compartment, locate the rear motor phase-wire connections.

Match the motor wires to the controller wires by color:

  • green to green
  • blue to blue
  • yellow to yellow

The official q30 scooter video shows the phase-wire connections being aligned at about 01:09.

Use the original wiring arrangement as the reference.

Step 10: Bolt the Phase-Wire Terminals Together

Place the matching ring terminals together.

Insert the original bolt through each connection and install the nut.

The official video shows the hardware being tightened at about 01:17.

Tighten each connection with the appropriate wrench.

After tightening, check the terminals by hand.

They should not move against each other.

Step 11: Cover the Phase-Wire Connections

Slide the black insulating sleeves back over the completed phase-wire joints.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 01:21.

Cover the metal bolt, nut, and ring terminals completely.

Do not leave exposed metal between the three phase-wire connections.

Step 12: Connect the Hall Sensor Plug

Locate the white five-wire Hall sensor connector from the rear motor.

Connect it to the matching controller-side plug.

The official q30 electric scooter video shows this at about 01:22.

Align the connector correctly and push it fully together.

Hold the plastic connector housing rather than pulling or pushing on the thin wires.

Step 13: Check the Motor Wiring Before Connecting the Battery

Before reconnecting battery power, inspect the rear motor wiring.

Make sure:

  • yellow, green, and blue phase wires are matched correctly;
  • all phase-wire hardware is tight;
  • the phase-wire joints are fully insulated;
  • the Hall sensor plug is fully seated;
  • the motor cable is not pinched at the frame opening;
  • the cable near the axle is not twisted or damaged.

The battery should still be disconnected during this check.

Step 14: Reconnect the XT60 Battery Plug Last

Reconnect the yellow XT60 battery power plug only after all motor connections are complete.

The official arwibon q30 scooter video shows this at about 01:24.

This should be the final electrical connection.

Do not reconnect battery power and then continue working on exposed phase-wire hardware.

Step 15: Test the Rear Motor

Keep the rear wheel off the ground for the first test.

Turn on the arwibon q30 electric scooter.

Apply the throttle gently.

Check that:

  • the rear motor starts normally;
  • the wheel rotates in the expected direction;
  • there is no unusual vibration or motor hesitation;
  • the brake cutoff works;
  • no wiring connection comes loose during the test.

If the motor does not operate normally, turn the scooter off and disconnect the XT60 plug before checking the wiring again.

Step 16: Organize the Wiring and Close the Deck

Once the rear motor test is complete, arrange the wiring inside the deck compartment.

The official q30 scooter video shows the wiring being placed back into the compartment at about 01:27.

Keep the harness away from screw holes and sharp deck edges.

Make sure the phase-wire connections remain covered by their insulating sleeves.

Reinstall the deck cover and tighten the surrounding screws.

Final Check

Before riding the arwibon q30 scooter, confirm that:

  • both anti-rotation washers are seated correctly;
  • both rear axle nuts are secure;
  • the rear brake caliper is firmly mounted;
  • the brake disc does not have heavy continuous rubbing;
  • the motor cable is routed without being pinched;
  • all three phase-wire connections are tight and insulated;
  • the Hall sensor connector is fully seated;
  • the rear motor runs normally;
  • the rear brake applies and releases correctly.

The anti-rotation washers deserve particular attention. Their locating tabs need to sit correctly in the swingarm slots before the axle nuts are tightened.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “Q30 Rear Tire Installation | Arwibon Q30” and covers the rear wheel motor, axle hardware, brake caliper, motor phase wires, Hall sensor connector, and battery reconnection shown for the arwibon q30 electric scooter.
