How to Install the New Controller on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

This tutorial covers installation and wiring of the new controller used on an Arwibon Q30 scooter. The procedure includes connecting the three motor phase wires, insulating each high-current joint, reconnecting the nine signal plugs shown in the installation video, and connecting the yellow XT60 battery plug last.

Do not connect the XT60 battery plug while the controller wiring is being assembled.

Tools and Parts Needed

Prepare:

  • New Arwibon Q30 controller
  • Allen key
  • Small open-end wrench or socket tool
  • Black electrical insulation tape
  • Insulating sleeves or heat-shrink tubing
  • Protective gloves

Part 1: Connect the Three Motor Phase Wires

The motor uses three large phase-wire connections:

  • yellow
  • green
  • blue

For the controller shown in the supplied procedure, each motor phase wire connects to the controller wire of the same color.

The bolted connections need to remain straight enough to fit correctly inside their insulating sleeves. Do not sharply fold the joint after tightening it.

Step 1: Prepare the Yellow Phase Wire

Locate the yellow motor phase wire and the yellow controller phase wire.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows these wires at about 00:22.

Before bolting the terminals together, slide the insulating sleeve over one side of the wire.

The video shows the sleeve being prepared at about 00:15.

Move it far enough away from the terminal so it does not interfere with tightening.

Step 2: Connect Yellow to Yellow

Place the two yellow ring terminals together.

Insert the terminal bolt and install the nut.

The official video shows the connection being tightened at about 00:36.

Use the Allen key together with the appropriate wrench or socket to hold both sides of the hardware.

Tighten the connection securely.

Do not leave movement between the two ring terminals.

Step 3: Keep the Yellow Joint Straight

After tightening, position the connected section in a straight line as shown in the supplied procedure.

The official video shows this at about 00:41.

Do not put a sharp bend directly through the bolted terminal joint.

Step 4: Insulate the Yellow Phase Connection

Wrap the exposed metal connection with black electrical insulation tape.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this at about 00:50.

Cover the bolt, nut, and exposed terminal metal.

No conductive metal should remain exposed.

At about 01:05, the insulating sleeve is moved back over the wrapped joint.

The video shows the ends being secured with tape at about 01:14.

Step 5: Connect the Green Phase Wire

Locate the green motor wire and matching green controller wire.

The official video shows these at about 01:28.

Slide the insulating sleeve into position before connecting the terminals.

Bolt the two ring terminals together.

The video shows the terminal hardware being tightened at about 01:41.

Once secure, wrap the exposed metal with electrical tape.

The supplied procedure shows this at about 01:46.

Move the insulating sleeve over the completed joint and secure the ends as shown at about 01:56.

Step 6: Connect the Blue Phase Wire

Locate the blue motor phase wire and blue controller phase wire.

The official Arwibon Q30 scooter video shows these at about 02:06.

Install the insulating sleeve first, then overlap the two ring terminals.

Fit the bolt and nut and tighten them securely.

The video shows the connection being tightened at about 02:18.

Wrap the exposed hardware with electrical tape at about 02:23.

Move the insulating sleeve back over the joint.

The video shows the completed insulation at about 02:32.

Step 7: Check All Three Phase Connections

Before connecting any signal plugs, check the three phase joints.

Confirm that:

  • yellow is connected to yellow;
  • green is connected to green;
  • blue is connected to blue;
  • all terminal hardware is secure;
  • no joint is sharply folded;
  • no bolt, nut, or ring terminal remains exposed;
  • each joint has its insulating sleeve back in place.

Do not continue if one phase connection can move by hand.

Part 2: Connect the Nine Signal Plugs

The supplied Arwibon Q30 controller installation video shows nine quick-connect plugs being connected after the phase wires.

Because several plugs are similar in size, match them by connector shape, pin count, wire arrangement, and the corresponding harness shown in the original scooter.

Do not force together two plugs simply because they appear similar.

Step 8: Connect Plug 1 – Large White 6-Pin Connector

Locate the large white 6-pin plug.

The supplied procedure identifies this as the motor Hall sensor connector.

The official video shows the connection at about 02:47.

Align the locating features and push the two halves fully together.

Step 9: Connect Plug 2 – Black 2-Pin Connector

Locate the black 2-pin connector shown next in the video.

The official Arwibon Q30 procedure shows this connection at about 02:59.

Match it to the corresponding harness plug shown on the scooter.

Push the connector together until fully seated.

Step 10: Connect Plug 3 – Black 3-Pin Connector

Locate the next black 3-pin plug.

The official video shows this connection at about 03:15.

Check the wire colors and connector orientation before joining it.

Do not twist the connector to make it fit.

Step 11: Connect Plug 4 – Black 2-Pin Connector

Connect the next black 2-pin plug shown in the controller harness.

The official video shows this at about 03:26.

The supplied procedure identifies this connection with the electronic brake circuit.

Push the two connector housings together fully.

Step 12: Connect Plug 5 – Black 2-Pin Connector

Locate the next black 2-pin connector.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this at about 03:38.

Match it with the corresponding scooter-side connector by the arrangement shown in the original harness.

Step 13: Connect Plug 6 – Black 3-Pin Connector

Locate the black 3-pin connector shown next.

The official video shows this connection at about 03:55.

The supplied procedure associates this plug with the main handlebar/display harness.

Check the locating slot before connecting it.

Step 14: Connect Plug 7 – Black 2-Pin Connector

Connect the next black 2-pin branch connector.

The official Arwibon Q30 scooter video shows this at about 04:07.

Match the connector to the corresponding branch shown in the original wiring layout.

Step 15: Connect Plug 8 – Black 2-Pin Connector

Locate the next black 2-pin connector.

The official video shows this at about 04:18.

Push the matching connector halves together until fully seated.

Step 16: Connect Plug 9 – Small White 2-Pin Connector

Locate the small white 2-pin connector.

The official video shows this final small connector at about 04:30.

Match it to the corresponding white plug in the scooter wiring.

Do not pull on the small wires while making the connection.

Step 17: Inspect All Nine Signal Connections

Before connecting the battery, go through the controller harness again.

Check that:

  • all nine plugs shown in the procedure have been connected;
  • each plug is matched by shape and wiring arrangement;
  • no connector is only partially inserted;
  • no terminal has pushed backward out of its plastic housing;
  • the small signal wires are not trapped beneath the controller.

The official video shows this final wiring check around 04:36.

Part 3: Connect Main Power and Test the Controller

Step 18: Locate the Yellow XT60 Battery Connector

Find the yellow XT60 connector on the controller and the matching yellow connector from the battery.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows them at about 04:39.

Do not connect them until the phase wires and signal connectors have been checked.

Step 19: Connect the XT60 Plug Last

Align the XT60 connector correctly.

Push the two halves fully together.

This is the final main electrical connection in the supplied controller installation procedure.

Do not force the connector together in the wrong orientation.

Step 20: Power On the Scooter

Insert the key and turn on the Arwibon Q30.

Check that the main display powers up normally.

Then test the electrical functions affected by the controller installation.

Check:

  • main display;
  • front lighting;
  • rear lighting;
  • turn signals;
  • brake-light response;
  • throttle and motor operation.

For the first motor test, support the scooter so the driven wheel is off the ground.

Apply only a small amount of throttle initially.

Step 21: Test the Brake Cutoff

With the driven wheel elevated, operate the motor briefly.

Then squeeze each brake lever.

Check that motor drive stops when the brake cutoff circuit is activated.

If the motor continues to drive while a brake lever is held, switch the scooter off and recheck the corresponding wiring before riding.

Step 22: Check the Phase Connections After Testing

Turn the scooter off after the initial motor test.

Inspect the yellow, green, and blue phase connections again.

Make sure the insulating sleeves have not moved and no metal terminal has become exposed.

If a phase-wire connection is loose, do not continue using the scooter.

Step 23: Position the Controller Inside the Deck

Place the new controller into its normal position inside the battery compartment.

Arrange the wiring around it without sharply bending the phase joints.

Keep the insulated phase connections separated and away from the metal deck frame.

Do not place a heavy component directly on top of the signal connectors.

Step 24: Arrange the Wiring Before Closing the Deck

Place excess cable into the available spaces around the controller and battery.

Make sure:

  • no phase joint is trapped against the deck edge;
  • no wire runs across a cover screw hole;
  • no connector is underneath the battery or controller;
  • the XT60 plug is not being pulled by the surrounding wiring.

Step 25: Reinstall the Battery Cover

Once the controller and wiring are positioned correctly, reinstall the battery compartment cover.

Start all cover screws before tightening them fully.

Check around the edge to make sure no cable is trapped underneath the cover.

Then tighten the cover hardware gradually.

Final Check

Before riding the Arwibon Q30 scooter, confirm that:

  • yellow, green, and blue motor phase wires are connected color-to-color as shown in the supplied procedure;
  • all three phase-terminal joints are securely bolted;
  • no exposed metal remains around the phase connections;
  • the insulated phase joints are not sharply bent;
  • all nine signal plugs shown in the controller installation video are connected;
  • the yellow XT60 battery plug was connected last;
  • the display powers on normally;
  • motor operation is normal with the wheel elevated;
  • brake cutoff works;
  • lighting and other connected functions have been checked;
  • no wiring is trapped under the battery cover.
