How to Install the Motor Covers on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 04 Sep 2026 0 Comments

This tutorial covers installation of both hub motor side covers on an arwibon q30 scooter. The process includes applying waterproof sealant to the cover mating surfaces, fitting each cover back onto the motor, and tightening the six cover screws on each side.

The motor wheel should already be removed from the scooter before starting.

Tools and Materials Needed

Prepare:

  • No. 4 hex key
  • Waterproof motor sealant or silicone sealant
  • 12 motor cover screws, six for each side
  • Protective gloves

Step 1: Apply Sealant to the Cable-Side Motor Cover

Start with the side of the motor where the main motor cable exits.

Apply a continuous layer of waterproof sealant around the mating surface of the motor cover.

The official arwibon q30 video shows the sealant being applied at about 00:00.

Follow the contact area around the cover and the outer edge near the mounting holes.

The sealant should cover the mating surface continuously rather than leaving open sections.

Step 2: Fit the Cable-Side Cover

Guide the motor cable through its original position while bringing the cover toward the motor.

The official q30 electric scooter video shows the cover being fitted at about 00:06.

Align:

  • the center bearing area;
  • the motor axle;
  • the outer cover edge;
  • the six screw holes.

Press the cover down evenly.

Do not trap or pinch the motor cable between the cover and motor housing.

Step 3: Start the Six Cover Screws by Hand

Insert all six Allen screws into the cable-side motor cover.

The official arwibon q30 scooter video shows this at about 00:20.

Thread each screw in by hand for the first few turns.

Do not fully tighten the first screw while the others are still loose.

Starting all six screws first makes it easier to keep the cover aligned.

Step 4: Tighten the Six Screws in a Cross Pattern

Use a No. 4 hex key to begin tightening the cover screws.

The official video shows this at about 00:25.

Move between screws on opposite sides of the cover rather than tightening them consecutively around the circle.

For example, tighten one screw slightly, move to a screw across from it, then continue around the cover.

Repeat the pattern until the motor cover sits evenly against the housing.

Step 5: Check the Cable-Side Cover

Look around the entire edge of the installed cover.

Make sure there is no obvious section sitting higher than the rest.

Also check the motor cable where it exits the housing.

The cable should follow its normal path without being caught underneath the cover.

Step 6: Turn the Motor Over

Carefully flip the motor wheel to the opposite side.

The official arwibon video shows this at about 01:00.

Support the axle and cable while turning the motor over.

Do not rest the motor directly on the cable.

Step 7: Apply Waterproof Sealant to the Opposite Side

Apply waterproof sealant around the mating surface on the second side of the motor housing.

The official arwibon q30 electric scooter video shows this at about 01:04.

Run the sealant around the outer contact area where the second motor cover will sit.

Check that the application continues around the full mating surface.

Step 8: Position the Second Motor Cover

Align the center opening of the cover with the motor axle.

The official video shows the cover being installed at about 01:09.

Lower the cover onto the motor.

Rotate or reposition it slightly if necessary until all six mounting holes line up.

Do not force the cover down if the holes are not aligned.

Step 9: Install the Six Screws

Insert the six cover screws.

The official q30 scooter video shows this beginning at about 01:18.

Start every screw by hand before tightening them with the hex key.

Check that each screw enters the thread normally.

If a screw becomes tight immediately, back it out and check the alignment rather than forcing it.

Step 10: Tighten the Second Cover in a Cross Pattern

Use the No. 4 hex key to tighten the six screws gradually.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 01:23.

Again, work between screws on opposite sides of the motor.

Do not completely tighten one screw before the rest of the cover has been drawn into position.

Continue until all six screws are secure and the cover sits evenly against the motor housing.

Step 11: Inspect Both Motor Covers

After both sides have been installed, check the entire motor.

Make sure:

  • all 12 motor cover screws are installed;
  • both covers sit evenly against the motor housing;
  • the sealant runs around the mating areas;
  • the motor cable is not pinched;
  • the cable insulation has not been damaged;
  • neither cover has an obvious gap around its edge.

If one part of a cover is not seated correctly, correct it before reinstalling the motor wheel on the scooter.

Step 12: Allow the Sealant to Set

Before putting the motor back into service, follow the curing instructions for the waterproof sealant you used.

Do not assume that all sealants have the same curing time.

Keeping the motor dry while the sealant sets avoids disturbing the newly sealed cover joint.

Final Check

Before reinstalling the motor wheel on the arwibon q30 electric scooter, turn the wheel by hand and check the completed assembly.

Both covers should remain fixed in position, and the motor cable should exit normally without being twisted or trapped.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “Q30 Motor Cover Installation | Arwibon Q30” and covers installation and sealing of both hub motor side covers on the arwibon q30 scooter.
