How to Remove the Motor Cover on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter
This tutorial shows how to remove both side covers from the hub motor used on an arwibon q30 scooter. The motor wheel should already be removed from the scooter before starting.
The main work is removing the six cover screws on each side, loosening the cover around the center bearing, and separating both covers without damaging the motor cable.
Tools Needed
Prepare:
- No. 4 hex key
- Flat screwdriver or suitable tapping tool
- Rubber mallet if needed
- Protective gloves
Step 1: Place the Motor Wheel on a Stable Surface
Lay the removed motor wheel flat on a stable work surface.
The official arwibon q30 video shows the motor wheel positioned for disassembly at about 00:01.
Make sure the wheel cannot roll or shift while you remove the cover screws.
Step 2: Remove the Six Screws From the First Motor Cover
Locate the six Allen screws around the first side of the motor cover.
Use a No. 4 hex key to loosen and remove them one by one.
The official q30 electric scooter video shows this beginning at about 00:13.
Keep all six screws together.
If any screw feels tight, make sure the hex key is fully seated before applying more force.
Step 3: Turn the Motor Over
After the first six screws are removed, carefully flip the motor wheel over.
The official arwibon q30 scooter video shows this at about 00:37.
Support the motor as you turn it so the axle and cable are not struck against the work surface.
Step 4: Remove the Six Screws From the Other Side
Use the same No. 4 hex key to remove the six screws from the opposite motor cover.
The official video shows this at about 00:43.
Once these screws are removed, both motor covers are released from their screw mounting points.
Keep the screws from both sides organized.
Step 5: Loosen the First Motor Cover
With the screws removed, work on the side without the main motor cable first.
The official arwibon video shows light tapping around the center bearing area at about 01:10.
Use the handle of a tool, tapping rod, or rubber mallet to tap lightly around the center area.
The goal is to loosen the fitted cover, not to strike the bearing hard.
Use light taps and check whether the cover begins to separate.
Step 6: Open the Edge of the Cover
Once a small gap appears around the edge, use a flat tool carefully to help separate the cover.
Work gradually around the perimeter.
Do not force one point open too far while the rest of the cover is still tight.
The official arwibon q30 electric scooter video shows the cover being lifted away at about 01:25.
As the cover comes off, the internal motor structure becomes visible.
Step 7: Remove the First Motor Cover
Lift the loosened cover upward with both hands.
Keep it as level as possible while removing it from the axle and bearing area.
Do not insert a screwdriver deeply into the motor.
Use only the outer cover seam for assistance.
Once the cover is free, place it on a clean surface.
Step 8: Turn the Motor Back to the Cable Side
Flip the motor wheel so the side with the main motor cable is facing upward.
The official q30 scooter video shows work on this side beginning at about 01:33.
Pay extra attention to the cable where it exits the axle.
Do not pull or twist the cable while loosening the second cover.
Step 9: Loosen the Cable-Side Motor Cover
Lightly tap around the center bearing area again.
The official video shows this at about 01:33.
As before, use only enough force to loosen the fitted cover.
If the edge begins to separate, work around the cover gradually rather than prying hard at one location.
Step 10: Remove the Cable-Side Cover
Once the second cover is loose, lift it carefully.
The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 01:46.
Guide the cover along the direction of the motor cable.
Do not pull the cover against the cable or scrape the cable insulation against the metal edge.
Continue until the cover is completely separated from the motor.
Step 11: Keep the Motor Parts Organized
After both covers are removed, keep the following parts together:
- first motor cover
- second motor cover
- twelve cover screws
- any washers or hardware removed during disassembly
Keep dirt, metal filings, and loose hardware away from the open motor.
The internal magnets can attract small metal parts.
Step 12: Check the Motor Cable
Before doing any further repair work, inspect the motor cable where it passes through the axle and cover area.
Check for:
- cuts in the outer insulation;
- crushed sections;
- abrasion marks;
- damage caused while removing the cover.
If the cable has been damaged, do not continue with reassembly until the wiring condition has been checked.
Important Safety Notes
The hub motor contains strong magnets. Keep fingers clear when separating or bringing motor parts back together.
Do not strike the bearing heavily. The official procedure shows light tapping only to loosen the cover.
On the cable side, always guide the cover along the wire path. Do not pull the cover away while the motor cable is caught against the axle or housing.
This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “Q30 Motor Cover Removal | Arwibon Q30” and covers the motor cover disassembly shown for the arwibon q30 electric scooter.
