How to Fix a Black or Unresponsive Main Display on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 04 Sep 2026 0 Comments

If the main display on an arwibon q30 scooter stays black after the key is turned on, while the small voltage display still shows battery voltage, check the main display connector in the handlebar wiring first.

The official Arwibon Q30 video shows a loose or recessed terminal inside the display connector causing poor contact. The repair involves opening the wire wrap, checking the connector terminals, reconnecting the plug, and testing the display before wrapping the harness again.

Tools Needed

Prepare:

  • Scissors or a utility knife
  • Electrical insulation tape
  • Zip ties if the original ties need to be replaced
  • Spiral wire sleeve

Be careful when cutting tape around the harness. The display wires underneath are thin and can be damaged easily.

Step 1: Remove the Spiral Wire Sleeve

Follow the cable coming from the main display toward the handlebar and stem wiring bundle.

Unwind the black spiral wire sleeve by hand.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this beginning at about 00:00.

Continue opening the sleeve until the wiring underneath can be separated and inspected.

The main wire bundle is exposed at about 00:15.

Do not pull hard on the individual wires while removing the sleeve.

Step 2: Locate the Main Display Connector

Follow the display cable into the main handlebar harness.

Find the section wrapped in black insulation tape.

The official q30 electric scooter video shows this area at about 00:25.

The display connector is inside this wrapped section.

Step 3: Remove the Insulation Tape

Use scissors carefully to open the outer layer of insulation tape.

The official video shows this at about 00:28.

Keep the blade pointed away from the wires.

Once the tape has been opened, peel the remaining material away by hand.

At about 00:40, the main display connector becomes visible.

Step 4: Disconnect the Main Display Plug

Locate the locking tab on the display connector.

Press the tab and separate the two connector halves.

The official arwibon q30 scooter video shows this at about 01:03.

Hold the plastic connector housings.

Do not pull the connector apart by pulling on the wires.

Step 5: Check the Connector Terminals

Inspect the metal terminals inside both halves of the connector.

This is the main troubleshooting point shown in the video.

A terminal can move backward inside the plastic housing and fail to make proper contact when the plug is connected.

Compare the terminal positions.

The metal contacts should sit at similar depths inside the connector rather than one being noticeably pushed backward.

Step 6: Reposition Any Recessed Terminal

If one terminal has moved backward, hold the corresponding wire carefully.

The official video shows the connector wire being moved outward at about 01:19.

Adjust the wire so the terminal returns to its correct position inside the connector.

At about 01:35, the video checks that the terminals are positioned evenly at the front of the plug.

Do not pull hard enough to remove the terminal completely from the housing.

The goal is only to restore the contact position shown in the original connector.

Step 7: Check All Connector Pins

Inspect each wire position rather than checking only one terminal.

Look for:

  • a terminal sitting farther back than the others;
  • a loose wire at the rear of the connector;
  • a bent contact;
  • damage to the plastic connector housing.

If a terminal will not remain in position, the connector itself may need repair or replacement rather than simply being pushed back into place.

Step 8: Reconnect the Display Plug

Align the two connector halves correctly.

Check the locating shape before pushing them together.

The official arwibon video shows the connector being reconnected at about 01:40.

Push the plug straight together until it is fully seated.

Do not force it together at an angle.

Step 9: Turn the Q30 On and Test the Display

Insert the key and turn on the arwibon q30 electric scooter.

The official video shows the display test at about 01:43.

Check whether the center display powers on normally.

In the condition demonstrated in the video, the display comes back on after the connector terminal is corrected and the plug is reconnected.

Check that the normal display information appears before wrapping the harness again.

Step 10: Turn the Scooter Off Before Rewrapping the Wiring

Once the test confirms that the main display works, turn the scooter off again.

This makes it easier to organize the wiring without working around a powered control harness.

Make sure the connector has not moved during the test.

Step 11: Rewrap the Display Connector

Wrap the connector area with electrical insulation tape in the same general location used before disassembly.

Cover the connector and nearby wire section without pulling the wires excessively tight.

If the original connector was secured with a zip tie, replace it as needed.

Do not overtighten a zip tie around thin signal wiring.

Step 12: Reinstall the Spiral Wire Sleeve

Place the display cable back together with the main handlebar harness.

Wrap the black spiral sleeve around the wire bundle.

Keep enough cable movement near the handlebar so steering does not pull directly on the display connector.

Turn the handlebar left and right after the sleeve is installed and watch the harness.

The connector should not be placed under tension.

If the Main Display Is Still Black

The procedure in this official Arwibon video addresses a connector contact problem. If the terminals are correctly positioned, the connector is fully seated, and the main display still does not power on, the supplied video does not establish the next fault location.

At that point, further inspection would be needed rather than assuming that the display itself or controller is faulty.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Q30 video “Q30 Main Display Port Connection Issue | Arwibon Q30” and covers the display connector problem demonstrated on the arwibon q30 scooter.
