How to Install the Rear Brake Cable on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter
This tutorial covers the rear brake cable installation and adjustment process for an arwibon q30 scooter. The work starts at the brake lever, then the new inner cable is fed through the outer housing to the rear brake caliper, passed through the adjuster and spring, clamped at the brake arm, and finally checked for correct lever travel and brake release.
Tools and Parts Needed
Prepare:
- New rear brake inner cable
- Allen key
- Brake adjuster hardware
- Protective spring
- Wire cutters
- Cable end cap if needed
- Protective gloves
Step 1: Align the Brake Lever Adjuster Slots
Move to the rear brake lever on the handlebar.
Rotate the barrel adjuster and locking ring until their slots line up with the slot in the brake lever body.

The three openings need to form one straight path so the new brake cable can be inserted.
Step 2: Install the Cable End Into the Brake Lever
Take the cylindrical metal end of the new brake cable.
Insert it into the retaining pocket inside the brake lever.

Make sure the cable end sits fully inside the lever slot rather than resting on the edge.
Step 3: Seat the Cable in the Barrel Adjuster
Guide the steel cable through the aligned slots in the brake lever, barrel adjuster, and locking ring.

Once the cable is seated, rotate the barrel adjuster so the slots no longer line up.
This keeps the cable from slipping sideways out of the lever during normal use.
Step 4: Feed the New Cable Into the Outer Housing
Insert the free end of the new inner cable into the black rear brake outer housing.

Feed the cable through gradually.
Do not kink the cable while pushing it into the housing.
Continue until the cable appears at the rear brake end.
Step 5: Pull the Cable Through at the Rear Wheel
Move to the rear brake caliper.
Pull the new cable through the outer housing until the inner cable is fully routed.

If the cable becomes difficult to push, stop and check the housing route rather than forcing it.
Step 6: Pass the Cable Through the Rear Adjuster
Guide the brake cable through the rear brake adjuster or guide tube.

Make sure the outer cable housing sits correctly in the adjuster seat.
If the housing is not fully seated, the brake cable tension will change when the lever is used.
Step 7: Install the Protective Spring
Slide the protective spring over the brake inner cable.

Position the spring between the cable housing end and the caliper arm area as shown in the original assembly.
Make sure the spring is not twisted or caught at an angle.
Step 8: Route the Cable Through the Caliper Arm
Pass the inner cable through the clamping point on the rear brake caliper arm.

Route the cable underneath the clamping washer or through the original cable path used by the caliper.
Do not tighten the cable fixing bolt yet.
Step 9: Remove Excess Cable Slack
Before clamping the cable, take up the loose travel.

Push the brake arm slightly toward its braking position while pulling the inner cable tight by hand.
The purpose is to remove obvious slack from the cable.
Do not pull the cable so tight that the brake pads remain applied when the lever is released.
Step 10: Tighten the Cable Fixing Bolt
Keep the cable in position.
Use the Allen wrench to tighten the fixing bolt on the brake caliper arm.

After tightening, pull the cable gently by hand to check that it does not slip through the clamp.
Step 11: Test the Brake Lever
Squeeze the rear brake lever several times.

Check that the lever:
- moves smoothly;
- pulls the brake normally;
- returns after release;
- does not come all the way back to the grip before the brake engages.
If the lever feels too loose or too tight, use the barrel adjuster to make a small correction.
Step 12: Spin the Rear Wheel
Lift the rear wheel and rotate it by hand.
The wheel should rotate after the brake lever is released.
Listen for continuous brake rubbing.
If the wheel remains heavily dragged, reduce the cable tension slightly and check the brake caliper position.
If the brake lever has too much free travel, increase the cable tension slightly.
Step 13: Make the Final Cable Adjustment
Use the barrel adjuster at the brake lever or caliper for small tension changes.
Make one adjustment at a time and test the lever again.
Do not use the barrel adjuster to compensate for a cable that was clamped with a large amount of slack.
If necessary, loosen the caliper cable bolt and reset the cable position.
Step 14: Finish the Cable End
If there is a long section of cable remaining past the caliper clamp, trim it only after the brake adjustment is complete.
Leave enough cable for future adjustment.
