How to Remove the Left and Right Brake Levers on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 03 Sep 2026 0 Comments

This tutorial covers removal of both brake levers on an arwibon q30 scooter. The process includes opening the handlebar wiring bundle, removing the grips, releasing the front and rear brake cables at the calipers, disconnecting the brake cutoff plugs, and sliding both brake lever assemblies off the handlebar.

Tools Needed

Prepare:

  • Allen key
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Protective gloves

Step 1: Remove the Spiral Wire Sleeve

Start at the handlebar and stem area.

Unwind and remove the black spiral cable sleeve from the main wiring harness.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this beginning at about 00:01.

Continue until the wrapped connector section is exposed.

Step 2: Open the Wiring Tape

Use scissors or a utility knife to carefully open the black electrical tape around the main harness.

The official q30 electric scooter video shows this at about 00:38.

Peel the tape back by hand.

At about 00:50, the brake cutoff signal connectors inside the harness become accessible.

Keep the blade away from the thin wires underneath the tape.

Step 3: Remove the Left Handlebar Grip

Hold the left rubber grip firmly.

Twist it while pulling outward from the handlebar.

The official arwibon q30 scooter video shows the left grip being removed at about 00:56.

Continue until the grip comes completely off the bar.

Step 4: Remove the Right Handlebar Grip

Remove the right grip in the same way.

The official video shows this at about 00:59.

Once both grips are removed, the brake lever assemblies can later slide off the ends of the handlebar.

Step 5: Release the Rear Brake Cable at the Caliper

Move to the rear brake caliper.

Use the Allen key to loosen the cable clamp bolt.

The official q30 scooter video shows this beginning at about 01:05.

Once the clamp is loose, release the inner brake cable from the rear caliper arm.

The video shows the cable being freed at about 01:13.

This removes tension from the brake cable before disconnecting it at the lever.

Step 6: Release the Front Brake Cable

Move to the front brake caliper.

Loosen the front brake cable clamp bolt with the Allen key.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 01:20.

Release the inner cable from the front caliper arm.

The video shows the cable free at about 01:30.

Both brake cables should now have enough slack to be removed from the lever assemblies.

Step 7: Loosen the Left Brake Lever Clamp

Return to the handlebar.

Use the Allen key to loosen the clamp bolt on the left brake lever.

The official q30 electric scooter video shows the left lever clamp being loosened at about 01:45.

The bolt only needs to be loose enough for the lever assembly to slide along the handlebar.

Step 8: Remove the Left Brake Cable From the Lever

Rotate the barrel adjuster and lock ring until their slots line up with the slot in the brake lever body.

The official video shows the cable being released at about 01:57.

Move the inner cable sideways through the aligned slots.

Then remove the cylindrical cable end from the brake lever.

The mechanical brake cable is now separated from the left lever.

Step 9: Disconnect the Left Brake Cutoff Plug

Follow the thin electrical wire coming from the left brake lever.

Locate its matching quick-disconnect plug inside the opened wiring harness.

The official arwibon q30 video shows this at about 02:04.

Press the connector release and pull the plug apart by the plastic housings.

Do not pull on the thin wires.

Step 10: Slide the Left Brake Lever Off

With the mechanical cable and electrical connector disconnected, slide the left brake lever assembly outward along the handlebar.

Remove it completely from the end of the bar.

The left brake lever is now removed.

Step 11: Loosen the Right Brake Lever Clamp

Move to the right side of the handlebar.

Use the Allen key to loosen the right brake lever clamp bolt.

The official q30 scooter video shows this at about 02:12.

Leave the clamp loose enough for the lever to slide off the handlebar.

Step 12: Remove the Right Brake Cable

Align the slots in the right brake lever, barrel adjuster, and lock ring.

The official video shows the right brake cable being removed at about 02:17.

Pull the inner cable sideways through the aligned slots.

Release the cable end from the lever.

Step 13: Disconnect the Right Brake Cutoff Plug

Follow the electrical wire from the right brake lever into the handlebar harness.

Disconnect its matching quick-disconnect plug.

The official arwibon q30 electric scooter video shows this at about 02:22.

Again, hold the connector housing rather than pulling on the wire.

Step 14: Slide the Right Brake Lever Off

Slide the right brake lever assembly toward the end of the handlebar.

The official video shows the lever being removed at about 02:30.

The right brake lever is now completely removed.

Step 15: Keep the Left and Right Parts Separate

Keep each brake lever with its corresponding cable position and hardware.

Before installing replacement levers, check:

  • the clamp area;
  • the brake cable barrel end;
  • the barrel adjuster;
  • the brake cutoff wire;
  • the electrical connector;
  • the connector locking tab.

This makes it easier to identify any damaged part before reassembly.

Final Check

At this stage, both left and right brake lever assemblies should be removed from the arwibon q30 scooter.

The front and rear mechanical brake cables should be released at their calipers, and both electronic brake cutoff connectors should be disconnected from the handlebar harness.

Do not attempt to pull a brake lever off while its cable is still under tension at the caliper.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “Q30 Left & Right Brake Handle Removal | Arwibon Q30” and covers the brake cable release, cutoff wiring, grip removal, and lever removal shown for the arwibon q30 electric scooter.
