How to Install and Adjust the Left and Right Brake Levers on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter
This tutorial covers installation of the left and right brake lever assemblies on an Arwibon Q30 scooter. The job includes mounting both levers, reconnecting the mechanical brake cables and electronic brake cutoff plugs, setting the cable tension at the calipers, and restoring the handlebar wiring protection.
Tools and Parts Needed
Prepare:
- Left and right Arwibon Q30 brake levers with brake cutoff wires
- Allen key
- Black electrical tape
- Black spiral cable sleeve
- Handlebar grips
- Protective gloves
Step 1: Install the Left Brake Lever
Slide the new left brake lever assembly onto the left side of the handlebar.

Move the lever to its working position and set the angle so it can be reached naturally from the grip.
Lightly tighten the clamp bolt first. Final positioning can be checked again after the grip and switch assembly are installed.
Step 2: Install the Right Brake Lever
Slide the right brake lever onto the right side of the handlebar.

Position it beside the existing right-side controls.
Use the Allen key to tighten the lever clamp.

Step 3: Reinstall the Left Handlebar Grip

Step 4: Reinstall the Right Handlebar Grip
Push the right rubber grip back onto the handlebar.

Step 5: Install the Left Switch Assembly
Slide the left multifunction switch assembly back onto the handlebar.

Set its angle so the buttons are accessible from the grip.
Tighten its mounting screw with the Allen key.
Step 6: Set the Brake Lever and Control Positions
Check the position of both brake levers and the handlebar controls.

Once the angles are correct, tighten the clamp screws securely.
Make sure neither brake lever interferes with the grips or nearby switches.
Step 7: Connect the Right Brake Cable
The supplied procedure identifies the right lever with the rear brake cable.
Align the slot in the barrel adjuster with the slot in the brake lever body.

Insert the cylindrical cable end into the brake lever.
Guide the inner cable through the aligned slots.
Seat the outer brake cable housing into the barrel adjuster.
Rotate the adjuster so the slots are no longer aligned. This keeps the cable from slipping back out through the opening.
Step 8: Connect the Left Brake Cable
Repeat the same process on the left brake lever.

Seat the cable end inside the lever, pass the inner cable through the aligned slots, and place the outer housing into the barrel adjuster.
Rotate the adjuster away from the open-slot position after the cable is seated.
Step 9: Connect the Brake Cutoff Plugs
Locate the small electrical connectors coming from both brake lever assemblies.

Match each brake lever connector with its corresponding plug in the main handlebar harness.
Push the connectors together until they are fully seated.

Hold the plastic connector housings during connection. Do not push or pull on the thin wires.
Step 10: Set the Front Brake Cable at the Caliper
Move to the front brake caliper.
Route the cable through the adjuster and spring arrangement shown in the original installation.

Move the caliper operating arm enough to remove obvious slack from the cable.
Pull the inner cable straight and tighten the cable clamp bolt with the Allen key.
Do not pull the cable so tightly that the brake pads remain applied when the lever is released.
Step 11: Set the Rear Brake Cable at the Caliper
Move to the rear brake caliper.
Route the rear brake cable through its adjuster and spring.

Move the caliper arm slightly while taking up excess cable slack.
Hold the inner cable in position and tighten the cable clamp bolt.
Again, leave enough free movement for the brake to release normally.
Step 12: Test Both Brake Levers
Squeeze and release the left brake lever several times.
Then repeat with the right lever.
Check that:
- each lever moves smoothly;
- each cable returns when the lever is released;
- the caliper arm returns normally;
- the wheel is not held by the brake after the lever is released.
If the cable is too loose or too tight, correct the adjustment before wrapping the handlebar harness.
Step 13: Check the Brake Cutoff Function
With the scooter safely supported and the driven wheel off the ground, power the scooter on.
Apply a small amount of throttle, then squeeze each brake lever separately.
The brake cutoff switch should interrupt motor drive when the corresponding brake lever is operated.
If the motor continues driving while the brake lever is held, switch the scooter off and recheck the brake cutoff connector before riding.
Step 14: Reinstall the Spiral Cable Sleeve
Take the black spiral wire sleeve.

Wrap it around the handlebar wiring branches and work toward the center of the handlebar.
Continue down the main stem harness.
The video shows the sleeve reaching the lower stem area at about 02:30.
Do not stretch the wiring tightly while wrapping it.
Step 15: Wrap the Connector Area With Electrical Tape
Use black electrical tape around the exposed brake cutoff connectors and the main wire bundle.
The supplied video shows the harness being wrapped at about 03:02.
Keep the connectors together with the surrounding wiring without sharply bending the thin signal wires.
Do not cover a partially connected plug. Check that each connector is fully seated first.
Step 16: Finish the Handlebar Wiring
Continue arranging the harness until the control wiring is grouped and protected along the stem.

Turn the handlebar fully left and fully right.
The wiring should move with the handlebar without pulling tight against the brake lever connectors.
Final Check
Before riding the Arwibon Q30, confirm that:
- both brake lever clamps are secure;
- both grips are fully installed;
- the front and rear brake cables are correctly seated;
- both cable clamp bolts are secure;
- both caliper arms return after the brake is released;
- both brake cutoff connectors are fully connected;
- the wheels do not have heavy continuous brake drag;
- both electronic brake cutoff switches work;
- the handlebar wiring has enough slack through the full steering range.
After any brake cable adjustment, test the brakes at low speed before returning to normal riding.
