How to Remove the Key Lock on an Arwibon GT08 Scooter
The key lock assembly on the arwibon gt08 scooter sits on the right side of the handlebar together with the small display and control components. To remove it, the wiring has to be disconnected first, then the parts outside the key lock need to come off in order so the assembly can slide off the handlebar tube.
This tutorial follows the official Arwibon GT08 key lock removal video.
Step 1: Open the Wire Sleeve
Start below the handlebar where the control wires run down the stem.
Unwrap the spiral wire sleeve by hand until the individual connectors are exposed.
The official arwibon gt08 video shows this beginning at about 00:04.
Do not pull the wiring harness apart. Only open enough of the sleeve to find the connector for the key lock and small display assembly.
Step 2: Find and Disconnect the Key Lock Connector
Follow the cable coming from the key lock assembly down into the exposed wiring bundle.
Locate the round waterproof connector identified in the video as the connection cable for the small gauges.
This appears at about 00:30.
Hold both sides of the connector body and pull them straight apart.
The connector is disconnected at about 00:39.
Do not pull on the wires themselves.
If the connector feels tight, hold it closer to the plug body and separate it gradually.
Step 3: Remove the Right Handlebar Grip
Move to the right end of the handlebar.
Twist the rubber grip while pulling it outward.
The official gt08 scooter tutorial shows the grip being removed at about 00:44.
The grip has to come off first because the brake lever, control switch, and key lock assembly all need to slide toward the end of the handlebar.
Step 4: Remove the Right Brake Lever
Use the correct Allen wrench to loosen the clamp screw underneath the right brake lever.
This begins at about 00:50.
Once the clamp is loose enough, slide the brake lever outward along the handlebar tube and remove it.
Keep the brake lever and its hardware together so it can be returned to the same position during reassembly.
Step 5: Remove the Multifunction Switch
Next, locate the switch assembly beside the key lock.
Use an Allen wrench to loosen the screw holding the switch clamp to the handlebar.
The official arwibon gt08 electric scooter video shows this at about 00:58.
After the screw is loose, slide the switch outward and remove it from the handlebar.
The switch comes off at about 01:08.
Do not force it past the end of the bar if the clamp is still too tight. Loosen the screw slightly more if needed.
Step 6: Loosen the Key Lock Mount
The key lock assembly is now exposed.
Use the Allen wrench to loosen the screw on the key lock mounting clamp.
This part starts at about 01:11.
Loosen the clamp only enough for the assembly to slide.
There is no need to remove the screw completely unless you are replacing the clamp hardware itself.
Step 7: Slide the Key Lock Assembly Off the Handlebar
Hold the key lock and small display assembly with both hands.
Slide it outward along the right handlebar tube.
The official arwibon scooter gt08 video shows the assembly being removed at about 01:23.
Keep the cable free while sliding the unit off. Do not let the connector or wire catch around the brake lever mount or switch clamp.
Once the assembly clears the end of the handlebar, the key lock removal is complete.
Step 8: Keep the Parts in Removal Order
Lay the removed parts out in the same order they came off:
- Right handlebar grip
- Brake lever
- Multifunction switch
- Key lock and small display assembly
Keeping them in order makes the reassembly much easier.
Reinstallation Note
When reinstalling the key lock assembly, reverse the removal sequence.
Slide the key lock onto the handlebar first, followed by the multifunction switch, brake lever, and right grip.
When reconnecting the waterproof plug, align the internal pins and locating marks before pushing the connector together.
Do not force the plug if it does not line up easily. Pull it apart, check the pin position, and reconnect it straight.
This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “GT08 Key Lock Removal | Arwibon GT08” and covers removal of the right-side key lock and small display assembly on the arwibon gt08 electric scooter.
