How to Install the Key Lock on an Arwibon GT08 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 26 Aug 2026 0 Comments

This tutorial covers installation of the right-side key lock assembly on the arwibon gt08 scooter. The key lock and small display slide onto the handlebar first, followed by the control switch, brake lever, and rubber grip. The final step is reconnecting the waterproof plug and wrapping the wiring back into the main harness.

Step 1: Slide the Key Lock Assembly Onto the Handlebar

Take the key lock and small display assembly and slide its clamp onto the right side of the handlebar.

The official arwibon gt08 video shows this beginning at about 00:05.

Move the assembly inward until it reaches the correct position.

Adjust the angle so the key lock and small display are easy to see and operate from the normal riding position.

This positioning is shown at about 00:08.

Step 2: Tighten the Key Lock Clamp

Once the key lock is in the right position, use a T-handle Allen wrench to tighten the mounting screw on the back of the clamp.

The official gt08 scooter tutorial shows this at about 00:10.

Tighten the screw enough to hold the assembly securely, but do not force the clamp past its normal range.

After tightening, try to move the key lock slightly by hand.

It should stay in position.

Step 3: Install the Control Switch

Slide the mode switch assembly onto the right handlebar next to the key lock.

The official arwibon gt08 electric scooter video shows this at about 00:14.

Position the switch close enough to reach easily without interfering with the key lock.

Do not tighten the switch immediately if you still need to adjust the spacing between the components.

Step 4: Install the Right Brake Lever

Slide the right brake lever assembly onto the handlebar.

The video shows this at about 00:20.

Position the lever next to the control switch.

Check the spacing between the key lock, switch, brake lever, and the end of the handlebar.

The official tutorial shows the brake and switch hardware being tightened at about 00:23.

Use the Allen wrench to secure the brake lever and switch once their positions feel correct.

Step 5: Reinstall the Right Handlebar Grip

Take the rubber grip and slide it onto the end of the right handlebar.

Push it inward until it sits against the brake lever area.

The official arwibon gt08 scooter video shows this at about 00:31.

Make sure the grip is fully seated and does not leave a large gap at the end of the handlebar.

Step 6: Route the Key Lock Cable Downward

Take the cable coming from the key lock assembly and guide it toward the main wire bundle below the handlebar.

The official video shows the cable being organized from about 00:37.

Follow the cable down until you find the matching waterproof connector in the main harness.

Step 7: Identify the Waterproof Connector

Locate the round multi-pin waterproof plug from the key lock and the matching connector on the scooter wiring harness.

The official gt08 electric scooter tutorial shows the connector clearly at about 00:43.

Before connecting them, check the locating marks and the internal pin position.

The connector has a keyed shape that prevents correct assembly in the wrong orientation.

Step 8: Connect the Waterproof Plug

Hold both connector bodies straight.

Align the locating notch and pin position, then push the two halves together.

The official arwibon gt08 video shows this from about 00:48 to 00:53.

Do not twist the connector while pushing it in.

Do not force it if it does not slide together normally.

If the plug does not fit, pull it apart and check the alignment again.

Forcing a misaligned connector can bend the internal pins and cause the key lock or display to stop working correctly.

Step 9: Add the Key Lock Wire to the Main Harness

Once the connector is fully seated, place the key lock cable together with the other handlebar wires.

The official video shows the wiring being organized at about 00:55.

Follow the same cable path used by the rest of the handlebar controls.

Keep the wire loose enough that turning the handlebar does not pull directly on the connector.

Step 10: Reinstall the Spiral Wire Sleeve

Take the black spiral wire sleeve and wrap it around the cable bundle.

The official arwibon scooter gt08 tutorial shows this beginning at about 00:57.

Continue wrapping until the key lock cable is held together with the main harness.

The final wiring organization is shown through about 01:05.

Do not wrap the sleeve so tightly that the cable bundle cannot move when the handlebar turns.

Step 11: Check the Handlebar Controls

After the installation is complete, check the position of all right-side controls.

Make sure:

  • the key lock assembly is secure;
  • the control switch does not move;
  • the brake lever is firmly mounted;
  • the rubber grip is fully seated;
  • the waterproof connector is fully plugged in;
  • the key lock cable is not being pulled tight;
  • the spiral sleeve is holding the wiring neatly.

Turn the handlebar left and right and watch the wire bundle.

Nothing should pull against the key lock connector during steering.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “GT08 Scooter Key Lock Installation | Arwibon GT08” and covers reinstallation of the right-side key lock, small display, switch, brake lever, grip, and waterproof connector on the arwibon gt08 electric scooter.
