Arwibon Q12 Rear Hydraulic Brake Lever Adjustment Guide

If the rear hydraulic brake lever on your arwibon scooter sits too close to the grip, feels too far away, or the lever travel does not match your hand size, the knurled thumb adjuster can be used to change the lever position by hand.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Q12 rear brake adjustment video. No disassembly is required.

Tools Needed

No tools are required.

The adjustment is made by hand using the knurled thumb screw on the hydraulic brake lever.

Locate the Brake Lever Adjuster

Find the knurled adjustment screw between the brake lever and the main lever body.

This is the hand-operated adjuster shown in the official Q12 procedure.

Make small changes and test the lever after each adjustment.

Turn Clockwise for a Shorter Reach

Grip the knurled screw with your thumb and index finger.

Turn it clockwise.

The lever position will move closer to the handlebar grip.

Pull the brake lever several times and check the new position.

This setting may feel more comfortable for riders who prefer a shorter reach.

Do not keep tightening the adjuster simply to compensate for a soft hydraulic brake.

Turn Counterclockwise for a Longer Reach

If the lever is too close to the grip, turn the knurled screw counterclockwise.

The lever will move farther outward.

Test the lever again after a small adjustment.

Continue until the lever position feels comfortable.

Do not unscrew the adjuster so far that it becomes loose or has very little thread engagement remaining.

Check the Lever After Adjustment

Pull and release the rear brake lever several times.

Check that:

  • The lever returns normally
  • The lever does not touch the grip during normal braking
  • The brake applies normally
  • The brake releases after the lever is released
  • The adjuster remains securely engaged

The correct lever position depends on the rider and brake setup. There is no need to make the lever travel match a fixed distance.

Compare the Front and Rear Brake Levers

If both brake levers use the same adjustment system, test them separately.

You can adjust each side to suit the corresponding hand.

The two levers do not need to sit at exactly the same angle or distance.

What matters is that both can be reached comfortably and operate normally.

Do Not Unscrew the Adjuster Too Far

When turning the adjuster counterclockwise, keep enough thread inside the lever body.

If the screw begins to feel loose, stop and turn it back in.

A loose adjuster can move during riding.

Lever Adjustment Will Not Fix a Soft Hydraulic Brake

This thumb screw changes the brake lever position.

It does not remove air from the hydraulic system and does not replace brake fluid service.

If the lever feels spongy, loses pressure, or can be pulled close to the grip even after adjustment, inspect the hydraulic brake system.

The brake may need mineral-oil service or a complete bleed.

Check the Wheel Before Riding

After adjusting the lever, raise the corresponding wheel if practical and spin it by hand.

Apply the brake.

The wheel should stop.

Release the lever and spin the wheel again.

Make sure the brake does not remain applied after the lever is released.
