How to Remove the Rear Tire on an Arwibon GT06 Scooter

This tutorial shows how to remove the rear motor wheel from an arwibon gt06 scooter. The rear wheel on the GT06 is also the drive motor assembly, so the job involves more than removing the axle nuts. You also need to disconnect the motor wiring inside the deck before the wheel can come out.

Turn off the scooter and place it on a stable work surface before you begin.

Tools Needed

Prepare:

  • Phillips screwdriver or electric screwdriver
  • Allen key set
  • Scissors or side cutters
  • Open-end or box wrench

It is also a good idea to take a clear photo of the motor wiring before disconnecting anything. This makes reassembly much easier.

Step 1: Remove the Deck Cover

Remove the screws around the deck cover.

Keep the screws together so none are lost during the repair.

Lift the deck cover carefully to expose the battery and controller area.

The official arwibon gt06 video starts this process at about 00:00.

Step 2: Disconnect the Main Battery Power

Before touching the controller or motor wires, disconnect the main battery power connector.

In the video, the yellow power connector is unplugged at about 00:10.

Do this before disconnecting any other electrical connection.

Once the main power is separated, keep the connector away from metal tools and other exposed terminals while you work.

Step 3: Disconnect the Motor Hall Sensor Plug

Locate the white motor signal connector inside the deck.

This is the Hall sensor connection from the rear motor.

Unplug the connector carefully by holding the connector body. Do not pull directly on the wires.

The Hall sensor plug is disconnected at about 00:20 in the official arwibon gt06 tutorial.

Step 4: Disconnect the Motor Phase Wires

The rear motor also uses three phase wires connected to the controller.

In the video, these are the yellow, green and blue wires.

Use a screwdriver to release the phase wires from the controller terminal block.

This part begins at about 00:37.

Before removing them, note the original wire positions. A photo is useful here, especially if you plan to reinstall the same motor later.

Do not rely on memory once several wires have been disconnected.

Step 5: Pull the Motor Cable Out of the Deck

After the Hall plug and phase wires are disconnected, feed the motor cable back through the frame opening.

Pull the cable gradually.

Do not yank the harness from the wheel side.

Watch the connector ends as they pass through the opening so they do not catch on the frame.

The motor harness is pulled out of the battery compartment at about 00:54.

On the arwibon gt06 electric scooter, this step needs to be completed before the rear wheel can be separated from the scooter.

Step 6: Cut the Cable Ties

Follow the motor cable along the rear swingarm.

The cable is held in place by zip ties around the rear suspension and swingarm area.

Cut the ties carefully one at a time.

Make sure the scissors or cutters do not touch the motor cable insulation.

The official gt06 scooter video shows this at about 01:17.

Once the ties are removed, the motor cable should be free all the way from the rear wheel to the deck.

Step 7: Remove the Rear Brake Caliper

The brake caliper needs to be moved out of the way before the motor wheel is removed.

Use an Allen key to remove the two caliper mounting screws.

Lift the caliper away from the brake disc and place it where it will not pull on the brake cable.

The brake caliper is removed at about 01:39.

Do not force the wheel past the caliper while it is still installed. The brake disc can catch inside the caliper and make the wheel difficult to remove.

Step 8: Remove the Axle Retaining Hardware

Move to the rear axle.

The arwibon gt06 uses retaining hardware around the axle that needs to be removed before the main axle nuts come off.

Use the Allen key to remove the screws holding the anti-rotation plate or locating hardware on both sides.

This is shown at about 01:48.

Keep the left-side and right-side hardware organized as you remove it. The video does not provide a separate diagram for the orientation of every washer and plate, so do not mix the parts together.

Step 9: Remove the Rear Axle Nuts

Use an open-end or box wrench to loosen the large axle nut on each side of the rear motor.

Remove the nuts and washers.

The axle nut removal begins at about 01:55 in the official arwibon scooter gt06 video.

Support the wheel while removing the final hardware. Once both sides are loose, the motor wheel is no longer firmly held in the swingarm.

Step 10: Remove the Rear Motor Wheel

Hold the tire with both hands.

Guide the motor axle out through the open ends of the rear swingarm.

Pull the rear wheel assembly out smoothly while making sure the motor cable does not catch on the frame.

The rear motor wheel is removed at about 02:10.

At this point, the complete rear wheel and motor assembly is separated from the arwibon gt06 scooter.

Before Reinstalling the Rear Wheel

Keep the axle nuts, washers, locating plates and screws in the same left-to-right order they were removed.

Also check the motor cable before reinstalling the wheel. Make sure:

  • the insulation has not been cut;
  • the Hall sensor plug is not damaged;
  • the phase wire terminals are intact;
  • the cable has not been pinched around the swingarm.

When reinstalling the motor, route the cable back along the original path and secure it with new zip ties.

Reconnect the wiring in the same positions recorded before removal. The main battery power connection should remain disconnected while the motor wiring is being reconnected.
