How to Adjust the Locking Lever on an Arwibon GT08 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 26 Aug 2026 0 Comments

If the telescoping stem on your arwibon gt08 scooter does not stay firmly in place, the quick-release locking lever may need adjustment. The locking clamp has to sit fully down on the outer stem tube before the lever is tightened. If the clamp is sitting too high or is slightly crooked, the inner stem can still slide even when the lever looks closed.

This tutorial follows the official Arwibon GT08 locking lever adjustment video.

Step 1: Open the Locking Lever and Loosen the Screw

Open the quick-release lever first.

Loosen the long screw running through the clamp by turning it counterclockwise.

You can do this by hand or with the correct Allen tool, depending on how tight it is.

The official arwibon gt08 video shows this at about 00:07.

Do not remove the screw completely. The purpose here is only to release enough tension so the clamp can be repositioned.

Step 2: Push the Locking Clamp Fully Down

Hold the clamp and push the entire locking sleeve downward.

It needs to sit at the lowest position, directly against the top of the outer stem tube.

Check the bottom edge of the clamp. It should sit evenly around the tube instead of remaining slightly raised on one side.

This step is shown at about 00:21 in the official GT08 tutorial.

This position matters because the clamp needs to close around the correct section of the stem. If it is sitting too high, the locking force may not hold the inner tube properly.

Step 3: Hold the Clamp in Position

Keep one hand on the side of the clamp so it does not move upward or twist while you tighten it.

The official video shows one side being pressed and held in place before the locking lever is tightened.

This begins at about 00:29.

Keeping the clamp seated while tightening prevents it from shifting out of position.

Step 4: Tighten the Locking Lever

With one side of the clamp still held in place, turn the quick-release lever clockwise to increase the clamping tension.

Make the adjustment gradually.

Do not tighten it as far as possible immediately. The lever still needs to be able to close by hand.

The goal is to get enough tension so the stem stays fixed after the lever is folded down.

Step 5: Close the Quick-Release Lever

Push the lever down into the locked position.

The official arwibon gt08 electric scooter video shows the lever being pressed closed at about 00:36.

You should feel resistance as the lever closes.

If the lever drops into place with almost no resistance, the clamp may still be too loose.

If it cannot be closed by hand without excessive force, loosen the adjustment slightly and try again.

Step 6: Check the Telescoping Stem

After the lever is locked, hold the inner stem tube and try to move it.

Pull it upward and downward.

Then try to rotate it gently.

The official video shows this test at about 00:40.

The inner stem should stay in position without sliding or turning inside the outer tube.

If it still moves, open the lever and tighten the adjustment slightly before testing again.

Step 7: Check the Clamp Position Again

If the stem still slips after tightening, do not only add more tension.

Open the lever and check whether the locking clamp is still sitting fully down against the outer stem tube.

A clamp that has moved upward or is sitting unevenly can still give poor holding force even if the screw feels tight.

Push it back to the lowest position, hold one side in place, and repeat the adjustment.

Step 8: Final Check Before Riding

Before using the gt08 electric scooter again, check the locking area carefully.

Make sure:

  • the clamp is seated fully down;
  • the quick-release lever is completely closed;
  • the inner stem does not slide up or down;
  • the stem does not rotate inside the outer tube;
  • the lever still opens normally when you need to adjust the stem height.

The official video does not provide a torque value for the locking screw, so there is no fixed tightening number to follow. Adjust the lever by feel and test the stem after each small change.

If the inner tube still moves after the clamp has been positioned and adjusted correctly, stop riding and inspect the locking parts before making the clamp tighter.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “GT08 Locking Lever Adjustment | Arwibon GT08” and covers adjustment of the telescoping stem quick-release clamp on the arwibon gt08 electric scooter.
