How to Install the Brake Disc on an Arwibon GT08 Scooter

by LafreniereyoaDoris 26 Aug 2026 0 Comments

This tutorial covers the rear brake disc installation process on the arwibon gt08 scooter, including fitting the 140 mm disc to the motor wheel, reinstalling the rear wheel, adjusting the brake caliper, and securing the motor cable along the rear swingarm.

The official Arwibon GT08 video shows the complete installation from the bare motor wheel through to the final cable tie check.

Step 1: Position the 140 mm Brake Disc

Place the 140 mm brake disc onto the mounting face of the rear motor wheel.

The side marked “140” is shown facing outward in the official arwibon gt08 video.

Line up the six mounting holes in the disc with the six threaded holes in the motor hub.

This begins at about 00:00.

Make sure the disc sits flat against the hub before installing the screws.

Step 2: Install the Six Brake Disc Screws

Start all six Allen screws by hand.

Do not fully tighten the first screw immediately.

Thread each screw in far enough to hold the disc in position.

The official gt08 electric scooter tutorial shows the screws being installed at about 00:03.

Starting all six first gives you a chance to confirm that the disc is centered and sitting flat against the mounting surface.

Step 3: Tighten the Disc Screws in a Cross Pattern

Use an Allen wrench or suitable driver to tighten the six screws gradually.

Do not go around the disc in a simple circle and fully tighten each screw one by one.

Instead, move across the disc from one screw to the opposite side.

A practical sequence is:

  1. Tighten one screw slightly.
  2. Move to a screw on the opposite side.
  3. Tighten that screw slightly.
  4. Continue working across the disc.
  5. Repeat the pattern until all six screws are secure.

The official arwibon gt08 scooter video shows the alternating tightening process from about 00:06 through 00:23.

Check the disc again at about 00:30.

It should sit flat against the motor hub without a visible gap around the mounting face.

Step 4: Install the Rear Motor Wheel Into the Swingarm

Lift the rear motor wheel and align the axle with the open slots in the rear swingarm.

Slide the wheel into position carefully.

The official video shows the motor wheel going into the rear rocker arm at about 00:36.

Check that both ends of the axle are seated correctly before installing the washers and axle nuts.

Do not tighten one side while the opposite side is still sitting outside its slot.

Step 5: Install the Axle Washers and Nuts

Fit the washers back onto the motor axle.

Then install the main axle nut on each side.

Use an open-end wrench, box wrench, or suitable socket to tighten the nuts.

The official arwibon gt08 electric scooter video shows this from about 00:44 to 00:55.

Work on both sides and keep checking the wheel position as the axle nuts are tightened.

The motor wheel should remain seated evenly in the rear swingarm.

Step 6: Install the Rear Brake Caliper

Place the rear brake caliper over the newly installed brake disc.

The disc needs to pass between the brake pads inside the caliper.

Align the caliper with the mounting holes on the rear swingarm.

The official arwibon gt08 tutorial shows the caliper going into position at about 01:00.

Insert the two mounting bolts at about 01:05.

Do not fully tighten them yet.

Leave enough movement for the caliper to be adjusted around the disc.

Step 7: Center the Brake Caliper

Rotate the rear wheel slowly by hand.

Watch the brake disc as it passes between the pads.

If the disc is rubbing heavily on one side, move the caliper slightly until the clearance looks more even.

The official video begins the brake adjustment at about 01:21.

Continue rotating the wheel while making small changes.

Do not force the disc sideways to make it fit the caliper.

Adjust the caliper position instead.

Once the rear wheel rotates smoothly without obvious rubbing, tighten the two caliper mounting bolts.

The final tightening is shown at about 01:40.

Step 8: Check the Rear Wheel Rotation

Spin the rear wheel again after the caliper bolts are tight.

Listen for continuous scraping around the brake disc.

A light contact may indicate that the caliper still needs a small position correction.

If the wheel slows quickly because the disc is rubbing hard against a brake pad, loosen the caliper bolts slightly and repeat the alignment.

Do this before moving on to the motor cable.

Step 9: Route the Motor Cable Along the Swingarm

Take the motor cable coming from the rear wheel and lay it along the inside of the rear swingarm.

Follow the original route shown on the arwibon gt08 scooter.

The official video shows the cable being positioned at about 01:46.

The cable should stay close to the swingarm instead of hanging below it.

At the same time, do not pull it completely tight.

Leave enough movement for the rear suspension to work without stretching the cable.

Step 10: Secure the Motor Cable With Zip Ties

Use nylon zip ties at the original fixing points along the rocker arm.

The official gt08 scooter video begins securing the cable at about 01:54.

Tighten each tie enough to hold the motor wire in place.

Do not crush the cable with excessive tie tension.

Continue along the swingarm until the cable is held securely and cannot move toward the tire or brake disc.

The cable fastening continues through about 02:04.

Step 11: Cut Off the Extra Zip Tie Length

Use scissors or side cutters to remove the excess ends of the zip ties.

This is shown at about 02:09.

Cut close enough that there is no long loose tail, but do not place the blade against the motor cable.

Check every tie after trimming it.

The cut edge should not point toward the motor wire where vibration could cause rubbing over time.

Step 12: Final Check Before Riding

Before riding the arwibon gt08 electric scooter, inspect the entire rear wheel assembly.

Make sure:

  • the 140 mm brake disc sits flat against the motor hub;
  • all six disc screws are secure;
  • the rear motor axle is fully seated in the swingarm;
  • both axle nuts are tight;
  • the brake caliper is firmly mounted;
  • the brake disc rotates between the pads without heavy rubbing;
  • the motor cable is secured along the rear swingarm;
  • the cable has enough movement for the suspension;
  • the motor wire cannot contact the tire or brake disc;
  • all excess zip tie ends have been removed.

Rotate the rear wheel by hand one last time.

If the brake disc rubs continuously, the wheel is not seated correctly, or the motor cable can reach a moving part, correct the problem before riding the gt08 electric scooter.

This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “GT08 Scooter Brake Disc Installation | Arwibon GT08” and covers installation of the rear 140 mm brake disc, rear motor wheel, brake caliper, and motor cable routing on the arwibon gt08 scooter.
