How to Adjust the Rear Hydraulic Brake Caliper on an Arwibon GT08 Scooter
This tutorial shows how to adjust the rear cable-actuated hydraulic brake caliper on an arwibon gt08 scooter. The procedure focuses on loosening the caliper, centering the brake disc between the pads, tightening the caliper without shifting its position, and checking the rear wheel for brake drag.
The brake caliper shown in the official video is a SWELAND unit.
Step 1: Loosen the Rear Brake Caliper Bolts
Locate the two Allen bolts that hold the rear brake caliper to the mounting bracket.
Use a T-handle Allen wrench to loosen both bolts slightly.
The official arwibon gt08 video shows this from about 00:00 to 00:05.
Do not remove the bolts.
They only need to be loose enough for the caliper body to move slightly from side to side.
Step 2: Center the Brake Caliper Over the Disc
Hold the SWELAND brake caliper with one hand.
The official gt08 electric scooter video shows this at about 00:10.
Look through the opening in the caliper and check the position of the brake disc between the two brake pads.
At about 00:14, the video shows the disc being positioned in the center of the pads.
Move the caliper carefully until the disc sits between both pads with a small visible gap on each side.
The disc should not sit hard against either pad.
Step 3: Hold the Caliper in Position
Once the disc is centered, keep one hand on the caliper.
Do not let the caliper move while the mounting bolts are being tightened.
This is important because the caliper can shift slightly as the bolts begin to clamp it against the mounting bracket.
Step 4: Tighten the Two Caliper Bolts Alternately
While holding the caliper in the centered position, begin tightening the upper and lower mounting bolts.

Tighten one bolt slightly, then move to the other bolt.
Continue alternating between the two until both are secure.
Do not fully tighten one bolt first and then tighten the second one.
That can pull the caliper toward one side and cause the brake disc to rub again.
Step 5: Spin the Rear Wheel
After both caliper bolts are tight, rotate the rear wheel by hand.
The official video shows this test at about 00:25.
The wheel should rotate freely without a constant scraping or grinding sound from the brake disc.
Listen carefully while the wheel is spinning.
A continuous metallic rubbing sound means the caliper may still be slightly off-center.
Step 6: Check the Pad Clearance
Look through the rear of the caliper while the wheel is stopped.
The official gt08 scooter video shows the final clearance check from about 00:30 to 00:40.
Check that the brake disc remains between the two pads.
There should be a small gap on each side of the disc.
If one side is touching, loosen the mounting bolts slightly and repeat the centering process.
Step 7: Test the Rear Brake
Squeeze the rear brake lever several times.
Then release the lever and spin the rear wheel again.
Make sure:
- the brake applies normally;
- the caliper remains in position;
- the wheel releases after the brake lever is let go;
- the disc is not continuously rubbing one brake pad;
- both caliper mounting bolts remain secure.
If the rear wheel still has heavy brake drag after the caliper has been centered correctly, inspect the brake pads, disc, and caliper before riding.
