How to Remove the Tail Light on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter
This tutorial covers removal of the rear tail light on an Arwibon Q30 scooter. The process includes removing the tail light from the rear fender, disconnecting the battery, unplugging the rear light wiring, removing the connector housings from the terminals, and pulling the tail light harness out through the rear frame.
Tools Needed
Prepare:
- Allen key or screwdriver
- Small open-end wrench
- Small flat-head screwdriver or terminal removal tool
- Protective gloves
Step 1: Remove the Tail Light Mounting Bolts
Locate the tail light assembly on the rear fender bracket.
The official Arwibon Q30 video shows the tail light at about 00:00.
Hold the lock nut underneath the fender with a small wrench.
Use the Allen key or screwdriver from above to loosen the mounting bolt.
The video shows the two mounting points being removed beginning at about 00:03.
Remove both bolts, washers, and nuts.
Keep the hardware together if it will be reused.
Step 2: Remove the Tail Light and Upper Mounting Plate
Once both mounting bolts are out, lift off the black metal mounting plate and the tail light assembly.
The official video shows this at about 00:27.
Do not pull the light away from the scooter yet because its wiring still runs through the frame into the deck compartment.
Step 3: Disconnect the XT60 Main Battery Plug
Open the deck compartment.
Before disconnecting the tail light wiring, unplug the yellow XT60 battery connector.
The official Arwibon Q30 scooter video shows this at about 00:34.
Hold both XT60 housings and pull them apart.
Do not pull on the wires.
Step 4: Disconnect the Red Tail Light Connector
Locate the tail light wiring inside the controller compartment.
Disconnect the red connector.
The official video shows this at about 00:41.
Hold the connector housing rather than pulling on the wire.
Step 5: Disconnect the Green Connector
Find the matching green connector in the same harness.
The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this being disconnected at about 00:46.
Separate the connector and keep it with the rest of the tail light wiring.
Step 6: Disconnect the White Connector
Disconnect the white connector next.
The official video shows this at about 00:53.
Check whether the connector has a locking tab before pulling the two halves apart.
Step 7: Disconnect the Yellow Connector
Finally, disconnect the yellow connector.
The official Q30 scooter video shows this at about 00:59.
At this stage, the tail light harness should be electrically separated from the scooter.
Step 8: Check Whether the Connector Housings Can Pass Through the Frame
The official video shows at about 01:03 that the complete connector housings are too large to pass through the rear wiring opening.
For the procedure shown in this video, the individual terminals need to be removed from their plastic connector housings before the harness can be pulled through the frame.
Do not cut the wires.
Step 9: Record the Terminal Positions Before Removing Them
Before removing any terminal from a connector housing, take a clear photo of:
- the wire colors;
- the connector orientation;
- the position of each wire inside the housing.
This is important because the terminals need to return to the same positions during reinstallation.
Do not rely on memory once several terminals have been removed.
Step 10: Release the Terminal Locking Tabs
Use a small flat-head screwdriver or terminal removal tool.
The official Arwibon Q30 video shows this beginning at about 01:06.
Carefully reach into the connector housing and release the retaining tab holding the metal terminal in place.
Use only enough pressure to release the terminal.
Do not bend or break the locking feature.
Step 11: Pull the Terminals Out of the Plastic Housing
Once the locking tab has been released, gently pull the corresponding wire and terminal out of the rear of the connector housing.
The official video shows the terminal coming out at about 01:09.
Repeat this for the terminals that need to pass through the frame opening.
Keep each plastic housing with its corresponding wires.
Do not mix the connectors.
Step 12: Straighten the Loose Terminals
Bring the released terminal wires together.
The official video shows them being prepared for removal at about 01:13.
Arrange the terminals so they form a narrow bundle.
Do not sharply bend the metal terminals.
Step 13: Pull the Tail Light Harness Through the Rear Frame
Move to the rear of the scooter.
Carefully pull the black tail light cable outward through the rear frame and fender wiring route.
The official Arwibon Q30 scooter video shows this at about 01:16.
Guide the loose terminals through the opening one at a time if necessary.
Do not pull hard if a terminal catches inside the frame.
Move the cable back slightly, reposition the terminals, and try again.
Step 14: Remove the Tail Light Assembly Completely
Continue pulling the harness until all of the wiring clears the frame.
The official video shows the tail light assembly completely removed at about 01:20.
The tail light, mounting hardware, wiring, and loose connector terminals can now be removed from the scooter.
Final Check
After removal, check that:
- the yellow XT60 battery connector remains disconnected;
- no tail light wire remains trapped inside the frame;
- the removed terminals are not bent;
- the plastic connector housings are kept with the correct wires;
- the original terminal positions have been recorded;
- the rear wiring opening is clear.
If the same tail light or a replacement unit will be installed later, restore every terminal to the same connector position recorded before removal.
This procedure follows the official Arwibon Scooter video “Q30 Tail Light Removal | Arwibon Q30” and covers the mounting hardware, tail light wiring, connector terminal removal, and rear harness extraction shown for the Arwibon Q30 scooter.
