How to Replace the Main Controller on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter

This tutorial covers complete removal and installation of the Arwibon Q30 main controller, including the motor phase connector, Hall sensor connector, control harness, deck light wiring, XT60 battery connection, cable arrangement, and final functional test.

Tools and Parts Needed

Prepare:

Remove the Old Controller

Step 1: Open the Pedal Cover

Remove all 12 pedal-cover bolts with the Allen key.

Use a flat-head screwdriver or suitable pry tool at the rear cover seam to release the cover from the deck.

Lift the cover carefully.

The controller, battery, and wiring are located directly underneath, so do not push the pry tool deeply into the deck.

Step 2: Disconnect the Two Deck Light Plugs

The pedal cover has two small black 2-pin light connectors.

Keep the cover supported and disconnect these two plugs by their plastic housings.

Once disconnected, move the pedal cover aside.

Step 3: Disconnect the Yellow XT60 Battery Plug

Locate the large yellow XT60 connector between the battery and controller.

Disconnect this main power connector before unplugging the controller, motor, or signal wiring.

Hold both XT60 housings and pull them apart.

Do not pull on the wires.

Leave the battery disconnected until all replacement-controller wiring has been completed.

Disconnect the Controller Wiring

Step 4: Disconnect the First Black Control Plug

Lift the old controller enough to access its connectors.

Locate the first black control-signal connector identified in the supplied procedure.

Press the locking tab and separate the plug.

Step 5: Disconnect the Second Black Multi-Pin Plug

Locate the adjacent wider black multi-pin connector.

Press the locking mechanism and disconnect it from the old controller.

Keep the plugs visible so they can be matched to the replacement controller later.

Step 6: Disconnect the Yellow MT60 Motor Phase Connector

Locate the yellow 3-terminal high-current motor connector.

This connector carries the three motor phase connections.

Hold both yellow connector housings and pull them apart.

Do not twist or pull on the motor cable.

Step 7: Disconnect the White 6-Pin Hall Connector

Locate the white 6-pin connector between the rear motor wiring and controller.

Press the locking tab and separate the connector.

Do not pull the small Hall wires individually.

Step 8: Remove the Old Controller

Check the controller compartment once more.

Make sure the controller is no longer connected to:

  • the battery;
  • motor phase wiring;
  • Hall sensor wiring;
  • black control connectors.

Lift the old controller out of the deck.

Keep it nearby until the replacement controller has been compared for connector layout and wiring.

Install the New Controller

The battery XT60 connector must remain disconnected during the following steps.

Step 9: Connect the Yellow MT60 Motor Phase Plug

Locate the yellow 3-terminal connector on the replacement controller.

Match it with the corresponding yellow motor connector.

Align the internal locating shape and push the two halves fully together.

Do not force the connector if the internal orientation does not match.

Step 10: Connect the White 6-Pin Hall Plug

Locate the matching white 6-pin Hall connectors.

Align the locking tab and connector shape.

Push them together until fully seated.

After connecting, check that none of the small wires has backed out of the connector housing.

Step 11: Connect the Black 3-Pin Control Plug

Locate the black 3-pin connector shown in the supplied controller procedure.

Match it with the corresponding body harness plug.

Align the connector and push it fully together.

Step 12: Connect the Wide Black Multi-Pin Plug

Locate the wider black multi-pin connector.

Match the connector shape and locking position before pushing it together.

Do not identify two similar-looking connectors by wire color alone.

Use the connector housing, pin count, and original harness position as the main reference.

Reconnect the Pedal Cover Light Wiring

Step 13: Connect the Two Small 2-Pin Light Plugs

Bring the pedal cover close to the deck.

Locate the two small black 2-pin connectors from the cover.

Match each one with its corresponding deck-side connector and push them fully together.

Keep the cover supported while doing this so the wires are not carrying its weight.

Connect the Battery Last

Step 14: Inspect All Wiring Before Restoring Power

Before connecting the XT60 plug, check:

  • yellow MT60 motor connector;
  • white 6-pin Hall connector;
  • black 3-pin control plug;
  • wide black multi-pin plug;
  • two pedal-cover light connectors.

Make sure every connection is fully seated and no terminal has pushed backward.

Also check that no metal terminal or damaged insulation is exposed.

Step 15: Reconnect the Yellow XT60 Plug

Only after all other wiring is complete should the battery be reconnected.

Align the yellow XT60 battery and controller connectors.

Push them completely together.

The XT60 connection restores main battery power to the controller.

Arrange the Controller and Wiring

Step 16: Position the Controller Inside the Deck

Place the new controller into its original position inside the deck compartment.

Do not force the controller down on top of the wiring.

Make sure the controller sits flat and does not trap any connector underneath it.

Step 17: Arrange the Cable Bundle

Route the thick motor and battery cables along the available space beside the battery.

Arrange the smaller signal connectors so they are not under tension.

Pay particular attention to the pedal-cover screw holes.

No cable should pass across a screw hole or become trapped between the metal cover and deck edge.

Test the New Controller

Step 18: Power the Scooter On

Keep the pedal cover open for the first electrical test.

Insert the key and switch the Arwibon Q30 on.

Check whether the meter powers up normally.

If the scooter does not power on, switch it off again and inspect the XT60 and control-harness connectors.

Step 19: Check the Lighting Functions

Test the electrical functions connected through the controller and body harness.

Check the functions fitted to the scooter, including:

  • front light;
  • turn signals;
  • brake light;
  • pedal/deck side lights.

If one function does not operate, turn the scooter off before checking its connector.

Step 20: Test the Rear Motor With the Wheel Raised

Support the scooter so the driven wheel is off the ground.

Apply a small amount of throttle.

Check that the motor starts and accelerates normally.

Listen for abnormal vibration, jerking, or unusual motor noise.

If the motor shakes instead of running normally, switch the scooter off and recheck the phase and Hall connections before continuing.

Step 21: Check the Brake Cutoff

Run the motor slowly with the driven wheel raised.

Operate the brake lever.

Confirm that motor drive stops when the brake cutoff is activated.

Release the brake and make sure the system returns to normal operation.

Reinstall the Pedal Cover

Step 22: Check the Wiring One Last Time

Before lowering the cover, make sure:

  • the controller is correctly positioned;
  • the battery wiring is not trapped;
  • no connector sits above a screw hole;
  • the motor cable is not sharply bent;
  • the pedal light wires have enough slack.

Step 23: Position the Pedal Cover

Lower the pedal cover onto the deck.

Check all edges before inserting the bolts.

If the cover does not sit flat, do not force it down with the screws.

Lift it again and look for a trapped wire or connector.

Step 24: Install All 12 Cover Bolts

Insert all 12 bolts by hand first.

Start each bolt only a few turns.

Once all mounting holes are aligned, tighten the bolts gradually around the cover.

Do not fully tighten one bolt while the rest remain loose.

Important Notes

Disconnect XT60 Before Controller Wiring

The main battery should be disconnected before the motor, Hall, and controller signal connectors are unplugged.

During installation, reconnect the XT60 only after the other controller wiring has been restored.

Do Not Force Similar-Looking Connectors

Match plugs by connector shape, pin count, locking structure, and original harness position.

If a connector does not fit naturally, stop and check it rather than forcing it into place.

Check the Hall Connector Carefully

The Hall connector uses small internal terminals.

After connection, inspect the rear of the plug and make sure no terminal has been pushed backward.

A poor Hall connection can cause motor shaking, difficult starting, or failure to run.

Do Not Trap Wires Under the Pedal Cover

Check the full cover perimeter before tightening the 12 bolts.

A cable caught between the metal cover and deck can damage its insulation and create an electrical fault.

Final Check

After replacing the Arwibon Q30 controller, confirm that:

  • the old controller is completely disconnected and removed;
  • the yellow MT60 motor connector is fully seated;
  • the white 6-pin Hall connector is fully seated;
  • both black control connectors are connected;
  • both pedal-cover light plugs are restored;
  • the XT60 battery connector was connected last;
  • no wiring is trapped under the controller or pedal cover;
  • the display powers on normally;
  • the lights operate;
  • the rear motor runs smoothly with the wheel raised;
  • the brake cutoff functions correctly;
  • all 12 pedal-cover bolts are installed.

Perform the first riding test at low speed. If the motor jerks, cuts out, or produces an error after controller replacement, stop riding and recheck the motor phase connector, Hall connector, and main control plugs before replacing another component.
