  • Metric Hex / Allen Key Set (4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm): For folding stem bolts, pinch clamp screws, and bracket fasteners.

  • Open-End / Box-End Wrench (10mm / 12mm / 13mm): For holding spherical rod-end locknuts.

  • Utility Knife / Pick Tool: For lifting the forward corner of the rubber deck grip mat.

  • Threadlocker (Medium-Strength Blue): Recommended on all mounting hardware to prevent loosening from road vibration.

Understanding the Damper Mounting Points

The steering stabilizer setup creates a triangulated hydraulic link between the rotating steering assembly and the rigid scooter frame:

  • Forward Fork Collar: A machined aluminum ring that clamps directly around the lower steering stem / fork crown tube.

  • Rear Frame Bridge: A rigid curved bracket that anchors to the forward deck rim and neck casting.

  • Hydraulic Damper Body: Features a linear piston shaft connected via spherical pillow-ball joints at both ends, equipped with a dial knob to adjust damping resistance.

Step-by-Step Installation Walkthrough

Step 1: Fold the Stem and Remove the Vertical Core Bolt

  1. Stand facing your arwibon e scooter. Flip open the primary folding latch on the steering column.

  2. Fold the handlebar stem backward toward the deck to expose the lower folding well.

  3. Insert an 8mm hex wrench straight down into the recessed vertical center bolt.

  4. Turn the wrench counter-clockwise to back out and remove the large central pre-load bolt along with its top retaining washer.

  5. Loosen the lateral pinch clamp bolts on the folding base collar.

Step 2: Slide on the Steering Stem Collar Bracket

  1. Carefully lift the upper folding joint upward off the threaded steering fork stem tube.

  2. Take the circular aluminum damper collar bracket and slide it down over the exposed steering neck tube until it rests flush against the lower bearing shelf.

  3. Position the bracket's mounting ear so it points rearward along the left side of the frame neck.

  4. Re-seat the folding stem assembly down over the steering tube.

  5. Reinstall the large vertical center bolt and washer. Tighten it down firmly to eliminate vertical stem play, re-torque the collar pinch bolts, and lock the folding stem back into the upright riding position.

Step 3: Install the Rear Frame Bridge Bracket

  1. Move to the front-left edge of the standing deck.

  2. Gently lift the forward corner of the rubber deck grip mat to reveal the frame perimeter mounting screws.

  3. Remove the two forward countersunk deck screws using your hex wrench.

  4. Position the curved black damper bridge bracket over the exposed frame holes, aligning the mounting slots with the threaded frame holes.

  5. Thread in the two longer replacement hex screws with washers.

  6. Torque both screws down securely so the bridge bracket sits rock-solid against the chassis, then press the rubber grip mat down around the bracket base.

Step 4: Mount the Damper Cylinder to the Frame Bridge

  1. Take the hydraulic damper cylinder assembly.

  2. Position the rear spherical rod-end bearing over the mounting hole on the upper tab of the curved frame bridge bracket.

  3. Insert the mounting bolt with a flat washer down through the rod end and bracket tab.

  4. Thread the nylon locknut onto the bottom of the bolt. Use a hex key and an open-end wrench to counter-hold and tighten the assembly securely while ensuring the spherical bearing can pivot freely.

Step 5: Secure the Damper Piston to the Steering Collar

  1. Align the front damper clamp collar with the mounting ear on the steering stem collar bracket installed in Step 2.

  2. Insert the forward mounting bolt through the damper collar joint and thread in the retaining nut.

  3. Use your hex key and box wrench to tighten the fastener until fully torqued.

  4. Verify that the damper body sits parallel to the neck casting without binding against the headlight bracket or brake cable routing.

Step 6: Full Steering Travel and Clearance Check

  1. Stand over your arwibon scooters with the front wheel on the ground.

  2. Turn the handlebars slowly from full left lock to full right lock:

    • Confirm the damper piston extends and compresses smoothly throughout its entire stroke.

    • Verify the damper body does not contact the headlight, wire harness, or folding latch at full steering lock.

    • Ensure the steering stops hit before the damper piston bottoms out internally.

How to Tune and Dial In Your Steering Damper

The rotary clicker dial located on the damper reservoir controls hydraulic oil flow through internal bypass valves:

  • Low-Speed / City Commuting (Softer Setting): Rotate the dial counter-clockwise toward the lighter settings (3 to 6 clicks from softest). This provides light, effortless handlebar turning for tight turns and parking maneuvers while still filtering out sharp pothole kicks.

  • High-Speed / Trail Riding (Stiffer Setting): Turn the dial clockwise to increase hydraulic resistance (8 to 14 clicks). The steering will feel heavier and more deliberate, eliminating wobble and tracking straight over high-speed asphalt cracks on your arwibon.
