How to Remove and Replace Brake Pads on an Arwibon Q30 Scooter
This tutorial covers brake pad removal and installation on an arwibon q30 scooter. The brake caliper should already be removed from the scooter before starting. The job involves removing the brake pad retaining bolt, pulling out the old pads and return spring, assembling the new pad set, and checking that the pads move correctly inside the caliper.
Tools and Parts Needed
Prepare:
- Allen key
- Replacement brake pad set
- Brake pad return spring
- Protective gloves
Keep oil, grease, and other contaminants away from the new brake pad friction surfaces.
Step 1: Position the Brake Caliper
Place the removed brake caliper on a clean work surface.

Locate the retaining bolt or pin that passes through the brake pads near the rear of the caliper.
Step 2: Remove the Brake Pad Retaining Bolt
Insert the correct Allen key into the retaining bolt.

Step 4: Check the Empty Caliper

Step 5: Assemble the New Brake Pads and Spring
Take the two new brake pads and the metal return spring.

Step 6: Check the Return Spring Position
Before inserting the pads, check that the spring sits correctly between them.
The spring tabs need to engage the pad assembly in the same position shown by the original parts.
The two pads should remain separated slightly by the spring instead of sitting loose against each other.
Step 7: Insert the New Pads Into the Caliper
Keep the pads and spring held together.
Slide the complete assembly into the brake caliper.

Push the pads along the caliper slots until they are fully seated.
Do not force them in at an angle.
Step 8: Align the Retaining Bolt Holes
Look through the retaining bolt opening in the caliper.
The holes in both brake pads should line up with the hole in the caliper body.

If the holes do not line up, reposition the pads slightly.
Do not force the retaining bolt through a misaligned pad.
Step 9: Reinstall the Retaining Bolt
Insert the original retaining bolt through the caliper and both brake pads.

Make sure the bolt passes through the complete pad assembly.
Step 10: Tighten the Retaining Bolt
Use the Allen key to tighten the retaining bolt.

After tightening, gently pull on the brake pad tabs.
The pads should remain captured inside the caliper.
Step 11: Check Brake Pad Movement
Operate the caliper brake arm by hand.

Watch the two pads while moving the arm.
They should move toward each other and release again without obvious binding.
If one pad is caught or the spring does not return correctly, remove the pad set and check the spring position again.
Step 12: Keep the New Pads Clean
Avoid touching the friction surfaces with oily or greasy hands.
If the brake pad surface becomes contaminated, braking performance can be affected.
Also keep lubricant and cleaning products away from the brake disc when the caliper is reinstalled.
Step 13: Reinstall and Adjust the Brake Caliper
Once the new pads are moving correctly, reinstall the caliper on the arwibon q30 electric scooter.
