  • Handlebar-mounted design
  • Wiring connector included
  • Supplied with matching keys
  • Throttle is not included

Compatibility Notice

Please compare the connector, wire configuration, mounting position, and appearance with your original Q30 key lock before ordering.

Different Q30 production versions may use different electrical connectors or handlebar components. This item should not be selected by scooter model name alone.

Tools Required

Prepare the following tools before replacement:

  • Allen key set
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Black electrical insulation tape
  • Nylon cable ties

Use cutting tools carefully around the wiring insulation.

Key Lock Removal

1. Open the Original Wiring Wrap

Locate the black spiral cable sleeve underneath the handlebar.

Unwind the sleeve by hand and move it downward until the electrical connectors are exposed.

Carefully remove the black electrical tape around the connector area. Keep the blade away from the cable insulation.

Separate the surrounding wires until the connector belonging to the key lock can be clearly identified.

Check: The key lock wire and its connector should be fully exposed and easy to access.

2. Disconnect the Key Lock Connector

Hold both sides of the connector housing.

Press the locking tab and pull the two connector halves straight apart.

If the key lock version has an additional auxiliary connector, disconnect it at the same time.

Do not pull the connector apart by holding the wires.

Check: All wiring from the old key lock should now be separated from the scooter's main harness.

3. Remove the Grip, Brake Lever and Old Key Lock

Pull and twist the outer rubber handlebar grip until it slides off the handlebar tube.

Use the correct Allen key to loosen the brake lever clamp.

Slide the brake lever outward and remove it from the handlebar.

Loosen the clamp screw on the key ignition lock.

Slide the complete old key lock assembly and its cable off the handlebar.

Check: The mounting section of the handlebar should now be clear and the old key lock completely removed.

Key Lock Installation

1. Install the New Key Lock

Slide the new key lock assembly onto the handlebar tube.

Position the wiring so it exits toward the lower side of the handlebar.

Do not tighten the clamp completely yet.

2. Reinstall the Brake Lever and Grip

Slide the brake lever back onto the handlebar next to the key lock.

Reinstall the rubber grip at the end of the handlebar.

Push the grip fully into position.

At this stage, the components should be arranged in the following order:

Grip → Brake Lever → Key Lock

Make sure the components do not interfere with each other.

3. Adjust the Key Lock Position

Rotate the key lock until the voltage display can be read comfortably from the riding position.

Tighten the key lock clamp screw with the Allen key.

Adjust the brake lever angle to a comfortable operating position and tighten its clamp screw.

Check the key lock and brake lever by hand. Neither component should rotate or move on the handlebar.

4. Secure the Key Lock Wiring

Route the key lock cable alongside the existing handlebar wiring.

Use a nylon cable tie to hold the wires together.

Cut off the excess cable tie tail.

Do not pull the cable tie so tight that it crushes or sharply bends the wires.

Electrical Connection

1. Connect the New Key Lock

Locate the corresponding connector on the scooter's main wiring harness.

Check the plug orientation and alignment before connecting it.

Push the two connectors straight together until the locking tab is fully engaged.

Do not force the plug if the connector shape or pin arrangement does not match.

2. Test the Key Switch

Insert the key and turn it to the ON position.

Check that:

  • The voltage display turns on
  • A voltage reading appears normally
  • The scooter display starts
  • The scooter electrical system powers up

Turn the key back to OFF after testing.

Check: The voltage display should switch off and the scooter should shut down when the key is turned off.

Wiring Insulation and Cable Wrap

After the electrical test has passed, arrange the connectors and surrounding wires neatly.

Wrap the connector area with black electrical insulation tape for additional protection and to keep the plugs from moving against the surrounding wiring.

Reinstall the original black spiral protective sleeve around the cable group.

Continue wrapping until the connector area is covered and the wiring sits neatly underneath the handlebar.

Do not wrap the cable so tightly that steering movement is restricted.

Final Installation Check

Before riding the scooter, perform several final checks.

Handlebar Component Check

Try to rotate the:

  • Rubber grip
  • Brake lever
  • Key lock assembly

The brake lever and key lock clamps should remain firmly in position.

Steering Test

Turn the handlebar fully to the left and then fully to the right.

Watch the key lock cable and main wiring harness during the test.

The wiring should move naturally without:

  • Pulling tight
  • Pinching
  • Sharp bending
  • Pulling on the electrical connector

Power Test

Turn the key to ON again and check the voltage display and main scooter display.

Confirm that the scooter powers on and off correctly with the key.

Do not ride the scooter if the electrical system switches off unexpectedly, the display flickers, or the wiring becomes tight during steering.
